Arnold looks like a chimp and Jai Courtney looks like a gorilla. And Jason Clarke starred in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Oh my God...

I can never understand why they cut trailers and then give away some major plot twist. Like do they look at the movie and go "Better show them the plot twist in the trailer, that way they'll expect it going in and won't miss it".

I can't understand the direction they're taking this franchise. Was Salvation so horrible that they had to abandon the set-up for the future war and give us this parody of a movie? Nothing about this movie looks good. I know Salvation gets a lot of hate around these parts, but c'mon, what would make a better entry into the Terminator franchise? Another future war movie or this?

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

One of the MANY things so stupid about this "twist" is that it really doesn't have any impact this many years later with a brand new actor as John Connor. One who LOOKS like a damn villain for crying out loud. One of the main reasons that seeing Arnold as a good guy in T2 was so mind blowing was because he had been burned into our brains as an iconic villain prior to that film. Same with Linda Hamilton. It was crazy seeing her all buff and badass when the SAME actress was just an average waitress in the film before.

The only way that this goofy twist would have had any chance of working is if this was the plot of Terminator 3 and it came out just a few years after T2. Then they could have had the adult John Connor that we saw at the beginning of T2 show up as a bad guy and it would have been this crazy juxtaposition with the previous film, just like T2 was. But now, this new John Connor is no more shocking to see as a villain than the Asian T-1000. He's just another bad guy.

And that actually ties in with another reason that T3 didn't work for me: no Edward Furlong. These just aren't movies that can "James Bond" out all the primary actors IMO. I know Furlong was in rehab or overweight or whatever but regardless of the reason he couldn't appear it just didn't feel like the movie was connected to T2.

Ed should dust himself off & campaign to get involved with the next one - if common sense resumes, that is.

The worst case scenario, is that noobs coming into this - young or old, will think this is like the 'Scary Movie' series; based on something legit.. but not.

The final coffin nail for a once great story, essentially.

Maybe they'll say that this new evil John is the unholy offspring of old John and an Endo.

I would rather see a movie with Edward Furlong walking down the street with this stupid thing, annoying random people than Terminator: Gynesys.

As much of a cluster**** as his life has become, Furlong did star in one of the best movies ever. And he did get Paris Hilton. Before half of Hollywood did.

Just one? He was also in The Crow: Wicked Prayer, one of the greatest cinematic achievements of the twenty first century...or any century. :cuss
