Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

You are correct however I never assume that others, especially on the internet, will be decent or courteous with regard to spoilers and I always enter every movie thread before it's released at my own risk.

You're right, decent or courteous people are hard to find on the internet. Too many selfish people.

It's hard to avoid spoilers in the world we live in. I shouldn't have watched the second trailer

No one could have anticipated the shocking level of spoilers from that trailer. Even if you somehow avoided it the twist could have been ruined just by you glancing at the one sheet on your way into the auditorium.

I don't think the John Connor "twist" is a spoiler. It seems that most of the film focuses on him as the villain, so there are probably a few more twists to the story that we aren't aware of. They seem to be keeping the Dr. Who guy away from all the trailers, tv spots and marketing for a reason.

Yeah, I think he's our best hope for any kind of twist, haven't seen a peep from him in any of the trailers yet and they haven't been shy about showing everything else short of the end credits off.

I saw it after the initial reaction, I knew there were spoilers in it. I just didn't care :lol

The new twist is the retconned T-800 model. It's not "Pops"

Ya sure, whatever. If people don't click and look at the trailers and only want to discuss and speculate on the movie it's one thing, but it's on everybody to not spoil it for others when they know stuff they've seen or heard.
Do you close your eyes in the cinema when the trailers appear? [emoji38]

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Well ****, the action looks pretty cool and these battles look more like the T1 & T2 future-war scenes than anything we've seen in over a decade. I can't afford to get into the Chronicle line.

arhg

dont be silly. that future war is too damn neat and clean. nothing like the ones from T1 and T2. :lol

Oh I know. It has a long way to go before being on par with the flashback sequences. I'm just saying it looks better than any attempt at recreating the future war since those flashbacks. When the guns are fired they have an 80s sound, they shoot purple plasma/laser stuff, there are actual armies of terminators on the battlefield, and it's dark. Terminator Salvation was like the complete opposite of that with it's Mad Max setting.

You make a great point. Plus, the resistance in TS was way too polished. They didn't look like the guerrilla units of T1-2.

Yeah, after seeing the T1 & T2 flashbacks I always think "Man, how on Earth could they survive in that condition - they look like hobos". But that's probably how it would be.

TS just felt like a generic middle-eastern war movie with Terminators thrown in.

The flashbacks in T1 & T2 were hardcore 80s sci-fi, and this film so far does a decent enough job representing that. I still think it will undoubtedly be an awful movie and the worst in the franchise of course, but at least they got a little bit right.

That's the best description I've ever seen of it.
