While some enjoyment can be had in the first 45 minutes, I would rather just re watch T1 to get the real thing.

Well duh, silly. No one is playing "would you rather" with T1 and TG. :lol

Otherwise I can just say that I'd rather watch T1 than the canal chase in T2. Or ESB instead of the ROTJ space battle. Or maybe I just stopping watching The Winter Soldier because it will always be trumped by Fellowship of the Ring. :D

Genisys just offers a fun alternative with a killer future war, some neat new Arnie moments, a great new Sarah, and a couple of genuine feelz. Yes it has its "kids in the desert" and "ewok" moments as well but they can't all be T1/ESB/Fury Road.

Oh and it looks like Peter Travers from Rolling Stone is a card carrying seal:

Yea the "I'd rather just watch the original" is such a crap argument about the merits of a new film.

I'm a big Terminator fan who basically hates T3 and TS and I thought this movie was good.

People just need to go see it for themselves rather than letting other's opinions get in the way of their own judgment.

Free will, man, is an illusion

Just imagining what DiFabio's screening was like:

That shirt alone tells you how out of touch Cameron is.

His shirt was all blue...but the interviewer just saw Genissyss.
:lol

Funny stuff!!! This thread is full of some win!

And Fury Road. And has no one else but jye seen Ex ****ing Machina??? That's some freaky ass AI **** there that will haunt you for days.

Is it really that good? I thought the trailers looked interesting, but never heard much of it.

Well I wouldn't reduce jye's opinion to "crap argument" but he does seem to be in "Doof Warrior" mode with pretty much all of Genisys. :D

It was brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. It actually tainted my first viewing of AoU because I saw it only three days prior. The first true robot movie that genuinely made me uncomfortable in a way that wouldn't let go for quite some time. But only because it was so amazing. Beautiful and disturbing. It only made $36 million worldwide so pretty much no one saw it. It's a real gem though that I think will sneak up on a lot of people when they finally see it. Can't wait for the blu-ray on 7/14.

It is not a crap argument since I was specifically referring to the first 45 minutes of the movie which incorporated a shot for shot redo of T1 scenes.

So yes, why waste time watching the redo scenes when you can just enjoy the real thing, especially when the rest of Genysis isn't any good.

But dat Genisys future war....

My mind imagined a better one.

Yes but just look at that very artwork! Clearly Taylor very deliberately kept his version very close to that. I'm pretty sure that I've seen old Cameron artwork very similar to the Genisys Spider Tanks too. It does pain me that we didn't/won't ever get to see Michael Biehn inserted into those scenes but that was Cameron's ball to drop. And in case anyone didn't notice (or care to notice) Taylor actually did use Cameron's T2 filters for the future war and then switched it up to greens and browns for the 1984 scenes to visually match the original movie. Then he did his own cinematography for the 2017 scenes.

Obviously cinematography and lens filters don't make a movie but it was a nice touch that I at least appreciated.

Arnold and JK Simmons seem to have emerged from this critical beatdown pretty much unscathed. Even reviewers that are very harsh on the film for the most part are conceding that Arnold did a good job in the role and that Simmons was respectable for his part. This could have been another Schumacher Batflick where even great actors like Tommy Lee Jones and Uma Thurman are tainted and turned into embarrassing jokes but it wasn't. From what I've seen most people, even naysayers, enjoyed Clarke's part as well.

And I think a reason that Courtney's lack of appeal is so acceptable is because this isn't a Biehn/Hamilton love story against the odds that we're all supposed to root for. It really is Pops and Sarah's story. Reese is just the monotone narrator like Hamilton was in T2. And like T2 the heart of this film isn't romance but rather a parent/child relationship of sorts. The reason the magazine loading scene worked so well is because you AGREE with Pops that this punk soldier isn't good enough for you and you WANT to see Pops put him in his place. I like that the jerk soldier is forced to respect him by the end.

No, we didn't get enough Bieh in the overall "series." I really wish Cameron gave him his due with the full future war prologue, but alas, one of those things that just didn't come to be.

Looks like Garrett Hedlund, Tom Hardy, Taylor Kitsch, and Nicholas Hoult were all on the short list to play Reese. Of them I would have to side with Hedlund. He isn't the most charismatic but is athletic and likable enough. Brie Larson from 21 Jump Street and Margot Robbie were in the running to play Sarah? I don't have any problem with Robbie but I could never buy her as anything but a super hot sex vixen. :lol Definitely not some humble waitress who learns to fight.

:lol

Hate the movie, love the man. :lol

So let me get this straight, Cyberdyne was a front technology company getting billions onto their cloud while behind the scenes they were trying to come up with time travel capabilities, and Skynet was the AI accumulated from all those humans logging into the cloud?

My head hurts. :lol

In T3, wasn't Skynet a military program, not a music subscription cloud created by Googledyne.
