:lol

Hate the movie, love the man. :lol

So let me get this straight, Cyberdyne was a front technology company getting billions onto their cloud while behind the scenes they were trying to come up with time travel capabilities, and Skynet was the AI accumulated from all those humans logging into the cloud?

My head hurts. :lol

In T3, wasn't Skynet a military program, not a music subscription cloud created by Googledyne.

Okay anytime you fashion a criticism against a Terminator movie with "but in T3..." you know you should probably stop. :lol

Skynet's AI:

Was already created, it just wasn't connected to anything. The countdown was what would activate the Genisys OS and let super Siri gain access to everyone and start controlling everything.

Actually the "release date timer" was actually a pretty ingenious way to incorporate the classic "race against time" element that these movies so often embrace. But instead of a countdown to a bomb going off or a laser beam firing it's a global product release that we're so used to seeing in real life, especially for something electronic. Countdowns are everywhere. Hell as I type this my kids are watching Teen Titans Go with a 3 and a half hour countdown timer in the corner of the screen ticking away the minutes until the show's 100th episode. :lol

Them sneaking by security cameras while guards and doctors were glued to their smartphones and tablets was both topical for the film's plot and hilariously relevant as I glanced around at the two or three idiots in the auditorium lighting up their own cell phones (and before anyone says "oh they were just bored because the movie sucked," no, those idiots show up for EVERY movie, good or bad.)

You're not alone. You have an army :)

Oorah.

One sentence from my post has spawned a thousand seal gifs.

I'm sure Darklord Dave just loves me.

While a-dev is in the theater right now watching the movie I just got some live exclusive footage of him enjoying the future war then getting to the part where you find out that the movie erases all the events of T2:

It was brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. It actually tainted my first viewing of AoU because I saw it only three days prior. The first true robot movie that genuinely made me uncomfortable in a way that wouldn't let go for quite some time. But only because it was so amazing. Beautiful and disturbing. It only made $36 million worldwide so pretty much no one saw it. It's a real gem though that I think will sneak up on a lot of people when they finally see it. Can't wait for the blu-ray on 7/14.

That's a pretty positive review. I will definitely check this out when it's out.

Rep for using that gif!! One of my favorite Farley skits!!!

But all Skynet needed were nukes, Genysis was about people being connected to Facebook and Xbox 24/7, nothing to do with the military.

Nukes codes weren't connecting to Genysis.

Totally. :lol

Because 2017 Genisys Skynet wasn't a military program. It was a civilian AI designed for fun and convenience that was secretly just waiting to get "out there" so it could go after the nuke codes. Kind of like Ultron being a "peace bot" that had to work at getting the nuke codes himself.

Probably my biggest "fear" with them continuing this new trilogy now that they've introduced

Matt Smith, and to a lesser extent Reese, being able to access and observe multiple timelines that both sides will determine that all timelines end in destruction unless they all "get along" and end with a mutual truce a la Matrix Revolutions. Maybe the relationship between Pops and Sarah would even be the template that would prompt both sides to agree. Kind of a father/daughter Romeo and Juliet with cyborgs or something. I can't imagine that working out in a way that I would find satisfying and I'm sure I'd join the non-seals in a heartbeat if they go that route.

If a-dev likes the movie, that will be the equivalent of this

Right so they've totally head****ed with the overall plot of the Terminator franchise where does it leave...
John Connor, the Leader of the Resistance, the Saviour of Mankind?

If John Connor no longer exists are they intending to rewrite the overall story but now with Kyle Reese as the Saviour of Mankind and leader of the Resistance or whatever it'll be now?

Well they've basically:

postponed the **** out of everything again. John Connor was still the savior of the post-1997 Judgment Day because Skynet didn't infect him until after he'd destroyed their power grid. But now John wasn't born in 1985 and Skynet didn't launch the nukes in 1997, 2005 (T3), or 2017. They're in an "uncharted 2017" with the original war erased and the savior of that war (John) infected and killed. So now we're left with just Kyle, Reese, Pops, and an alive but unconnected Skynet (as per the mid-credits scene.) How Skynet launches the nukes and then who it is that ultimately stops it now is anyone's guess.

no cameron, no party, even no terminator.
in my opinion the t2 is the end of the saga..
there's something of tiny good in the rise of the m... but for the rest is totally ******..
I miss Linda so much..

turns out JC is a false messiah.

kyle reese is the anti-Jc

this movie introduced more plotholes than explanations.

multiple timelines shat. good luck with that, they cant even manage to handle a single timeline correctly.
