Sounds like people who "like" this are simply relishing in the nostalgia of seeing 1984 Terminator stuff again -- like the excitement of seeing old Han and Chewie in the new Star Wars trailer. Once the film navigates into its own movie, it falls apart.

Film was entertaining enough but it wasn't good. Why do we have to settle for these mediocre films which were once the pinnacle of the genre? I think the worst offender here was the casting. I thought both Clarkes and Courtney were horrible at playing these characters. I don't think it's down to their acting ability but more their looks, mannerisms and mainly the way they delivered their lines. Arnie was great at what he was given bit why keep using that same smiling gag which was barely funny in the extended version of T2?

I thought the story was fine for the most part, there really is no where for it to go though. Those who are saying that the first 45 minutes were the best part are absolutely right. Not on par with 1 or 2 ( mainly because of the actors) but good fun. The future war scene was visually closer to Camerons war but still not really gritty. The movie had a cartoony feel about it all the way through. At least Salvation had a kind of grime to it and yes it was bland but it felt more grounded in reality ( apart from the end with the heart transplant).

The film spent too long trying to justify it's existence by constantly giving exposition but not actually really giving any plausible answers.

I agree with A Dev. The relationship between Pops ( I cringed every time she called him that ) didn't feel earnt.

The action scenes were just so generic and the helicopter chase scene was one of the most ridiculous and awful looking sequences I've seen in a summer blockbuster. Best sequences featured the T1000.

There are lots of unanswered questions which I guess the film makers won't have even thought about until amother film is greenlit. I don't even care if we never get the answers.

Yes these movies are supposed to be fun but T1 and T2 were boosted by the fact that they had great stories, stakes and a real human element behind it. This film had no Heart and Soul.

True, the first part was good, even though casting the 2 males as john and Kyle Reese was off. Sarah was a good cast, the game of thrones girl.

The reason this war seemed cartoonish was becuse of the re-desgin of the endoskeletons, they are no longer menicing looking but goofy cartoon looking, thats why the future war sucked.

I hated this movie why the screw up! They forget Terminator was a SCI-FI HORROR Movie not just sci-fi.

There are pieces of a decent movie here but....the script is AWFUL, sloppy and lazy.

Some of the cast was pretty ill-fitting for this. That Jai guy was the worst. He comes up short...generic and uninteresting....part of that can be laid on the script, but he just wasn't a good fit for this character.
Emilia Clarke's interpretation of Sarah took some getting used to, but she was okay.
Jason Clarke was awkward as John Connor...just weird and uncomfortable to watch.
JK Simmons did great with what he had....
The only thing that held it together and moved it along was Arnold. It was actually kind of cool, that whole "Guardian" thing.

The movie is just all over the place...the weird reenactments, the copycat action scenes with no real sense of excitement and danger...a whole thing feels like "who cares, it can all be wiped away with another time paradox"....so it's hard to get invested in characters or the story when it flails around aimlessly to a lackluster ending.

This movie needed to be "smaller"...more focus on the characters and less "time-paradox" comfusion and "let's-change-it-upfor- the hell-of it" crap...
All good points, all true to the core.

Also, CGI and other FX in this one were bleh. Worse than in both AoU and JW.
The sound work is awful too (watch T-1000 scenes on YT for reference).

A-dev is officially on my ignore list. This is a travesty.
Same. Ignore list bros! :hi5:

:monkey3

Khev,

You are under arrest for the kidnapping and brainwashing of a-dev.

You're surrounded by Seal Team 6 (DiFabio, Ash, Jedibear, Riddick , Wor , jye,) come out with your hands up.

a-dev is going to wake up with a massive hangover after his night with the ugly overweight TG girl. :lol

He'll be like "OMG, what have I done!" :lol

Hey I only had 1 pint before the film. Getting drunk came after. But in terms of chronology my enjoyment of the film happened while mostly sober. :lol

That said, I don't trust my first reaction. My pattern, even with the figures, is to think ''hey cool!!'' even while others are trashing things left and right. But then later I go on to become a pretty harsh critic as flaws become more and more apparent and annoying to me. I wouldn't rule that out from happening here.

So as you are storming Khev's compound please take care not to shoot the hostage. :D

Sorry man. You'll have some reading material tomorrow though. I'm still typing in another tab. Its 4am in Ireland, I shouldn't even still be up :lol

helled.. it was 4am in my country too :lol.. I was waiting for you damned long pee, but it became a poo.. ahahah

"Now I know why they wouldn't tell us what kind of Terminator fan they cooked up in that lab....a-dev is part seal! Fall back, fall back! a-dev's got a new alpha now." :panic:

:yess:

TG underwhelming at the box office. ( No surprise) It's clear the franchise is done and I mean no more planned sequels to this film. 'There simply wasn't enough desire for people to see another Terminator at the theatre. We have to move on guys..
Too bad I enjoyed TG but it's done. I'll buy the BD and enjoy it.

Never underestimate a studio's ability to keep a bad thing going....don't be surprised if there is a sequel to this...a stripped-down, tightly budgeted one. I'm sure they've got the stars locked in for more than one.

It seems like the whole idea of this movie was to do what JJA did with "Star Trek", basically throw a chainsaw into the character and continuity mix and just do whatever came to mind (probably the same thing he's doing with SW right now). Some people might consider that "creative"...others may call it what it is...a lazy, minimal-effort way to continue milking a franchise name...and to keep doing it as long as bodies show up and buy tickets. Once they've worn out the title, they move on to another....heck, by the time JJA is through, he'll have three franchises he's beaten the creative spark out of....

But back to "Terminator"....the current owners of this one won't take this lying down...the "ending" of this one was soft enough (even with the mid-credits scene) to make it easy for another set of hacks, er, hired guns to craft something else....

T3 killed the francise. Recasting John Connor, having Sarah dead and so on. After that recasting became the norm and people don't like different actors in roles EVERY movie. If they wanted to make a great film they could have done an alternate time line, but take the story back to its sci fi thriller roots and bring back Hamilton, Biehn and even Furlong ( if he could keep his head on straight ). Give us the cast we know and love when the films were good. Yeah they've aged and some of them not well, but that's life. Instead they've just kept recasting over and over and over just to try to keep the franchise alive. I think this film will be the final nail.
