Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

I'm with Snoop on this one. T3 can be taken about as seriously as an MTV awards spoof. It made a joke of all the traditions of Terminator - the leathers picked up in a gay bar and the star-glasses, Arnie one-liners that now have no context of his having been taught them like in T2, practically talking to the audience when he says ''She'll be back'' (he certainly wasn't talking to any character in earshot), Dr Silberman brought in merely for laughs etc etc.

Despite its faults T4 was right to go a bit more serious again.

I still like T3 more because it had Arnold in it. But I think both movies belong in the trash. For different reasons. T3 for being a silly comedy, T4 for being unoriginal and turing one of my favorite actors into a whispering bafoon.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

I watched salvation again yesterday, I think it's a good movie. Not great but it's Terminator, so I'll watch it regardless

Yeah TS is a really good film- I defend it time and again, actually quite touching at the end....
T3 was just trash..only saving grace was Arnie and bold ending

Time travel by Skynet again? A JOKE. Skynet can just keep sending thousands of terminators back in time until they win out...stupid concept if done more than a couple times

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Wouldn't mind a future style, in salvation we never really got to see the future as shown in t1- t2 and they could flesh out the discovery of the time machine and capturing of the t2 t800 story line. I'm all for a cgi ARNIE as I'm sure the technology has come far even from salvation, klue in tron was approaching realism in most scenes....
T3 should be wiped from terminator history

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Is T5 the remake?? :duh

A new Terminator movie will hit theaters on June 26, 2015, Paramount announced Thursday.Paramount, David Ellison's Skydance Pictures and Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures are partnering on the reboot of the franchise.More to come

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

It's a remake of Terminator 3.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Schwarzenegger playing an Old resistance Fighter, Who's look was Stolen to make The T-800's would be Fantastic imo. CGR Arnie ..., for the T-800's like in Salvation ..., which I like. I liked 3, and the TV Show too. I don't give a Damn.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

From BAD:

There was a rumor that Terminator 5 would be set in the 40s or 50s, with a Terminator likely going back to kill John Connor's grandfather or grandmother. I like that, even if it's a little silly. That could count as a reboot, I guess, especially if they go Star Trek on it and have the first film in the new trilogy reset the timeline so that the original Terminator doesn't even happen. Or something.

Hmm, sounds silly and derivative hut o like the idea of a 40's or 50's timeline. I have a love affair with that period of time

Yeah that would be an Abrams-Trek kind of reboot as opposed to a total franchise reboot like Batman Begins.

Just 'meh'. What can they do that's new? :dunno

Also why are they already talking about a new trilogy?? That's what T4 was supposed to be the beginning of and look how that panned out. Why can't anything be announced as a standalone film anymore, because lets face it that's more than likely as far as it will go barring a miracle of originality forcing its way in somehow. What's this presumptuous overconfidence in a franchise that hasn't blown anyone away since 1991? Is this a marketing tactic? Say its going to be a trilogy in the hopes that that somehow makes more people interested?

Its frustrating too because I have a feeling the intention with T4 being set in 2018 was ultimately to finish that trilogy in 2029 with the stuff we've all been wanting to see (if anything at this point). And because that first film didn't do much for anyone they didn't continue with the plan, thereby depriving of us of the real meat. This could be the exact same scenario again. Leave your best ideas for the 2nd and 3rd films that you hope you'll get around to making. Nnnnope, your first film fails with audiences, franchise dead once again. Bravo.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Just makes me appreciate the first two that much more.

Terminator hasn't had the luck of Batman, Star Trek and now Superman.

Actually, has the Star Trek reboot done well, haven't been following that one.

Anyways, let Michael Bay direct the next Terminator at this point.

Actually, I bet Neill Blomkamp or GDT get dibs on the reboot if their movies do well.

T2 already did that 22 years ago.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

I'm confused...So there is going to be a Terminator 5 with Arnie AND a reboot/ trilogy?

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Arnie wasn't mentioned in the latest news, which makes me a little worried. He definitely needs to be back.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Keep moving forward with the "Salvation" theme with two more movies. I would like to see the events up to the very second when Reese arrives in T1. Make it go full circle and truly make it a "Never ending story"!!!

:goodpost:

I think this is something we can all agree on. Show us the 2029 future war we've all been wanting to see since the flash back scenes in T1 and T2. I'd like to see Bale back as Connor too, he just needs more lines and a better script. And obviously Arnold's T-800 should be heavily featured as well.
