Hi, just saw Salvation! Epic 10/10 for me and I'm a hardcore Terminator fan! Anyway,
When John fights the T-700 at the end, isn't that a T-800? He says in the factory "These are T-800's"

But Hot Toys are marketing them as T-700's:confused::confused: Did they do this to cover up the T-800's appearance? or what? Just need to know! I have bought one on eBay and am now curious. Don't mind either way but would obviously prefer a T-800 on my shelf with a custom base.

Anyone getting me???

Playmates made a T700 as well, so they were supposed to be in the flick I think.

Wasn't the skulls that were being made during the end battle with the T800, T700 skulls? They had metal teeth.

after seeing it again i had an idea....... this takes place during preproduction of the movie or before HT saw the final cut (aka v1 joker)
suppose HT wanted to reuse their t-800 molds. they get a hold of some artist concepts for the various t's in the film. some of the concept art calls for a t-700. they see that this t-7-00 looks kinda like the 800. a lightbulb goes off. let's reuse our 800 mold and give it a gritty unfinished look and call it a 700 like in the prod. art. OR........following the SS non-reissue business model, HT capitalized on the mention of a 700 model in the TS pre-pro notes/designs, recycles their 800 mold and calls it a 700 dodging the re-release issue a lot of people want to see.

personally to reconcile the kerfuffle in my head, i call it a 700 and pretend it's part of an EU line.

I have no idea why this is still so confusing to some, here is the T-700 whether or not it was in the (Final cut) film here it is:

So there were T-600's, T-700's (Factory) and of course the T-800 at the end.

Exactly I can't see what's caused the confusion. The T-700's are never seen activated. But have a texture to their endoskeleton and their teeth have no enamel coating...and if you want to be really picky also don't have the slight gap in the front that Schwarzenneger does.

to add more to the mess, the 700's were called 800's by connor in the movie.

when it comes to the toy, it's a great way to hook us pseudo completionists.

All he said is "They're fuel cells for the T-800" and he's not lying, they are fuel cells for a T-800 and there's a T-800 active. He's never seen a T-700 working so wouldn't know what powered them, but has seen them being used by an 800 Series.

very true, BUT a few minutes before that, when they get to their feet in the factory. connor looks around and says "t-800's" followed by "there's so many" spoken by reese.

whatever the case maybe we'll see clarification in a cutscene. my odds are on a mid october/early november home release at the latest.....the toy looks a decent link between the 6 and the 8

I was under the impression that Connor saw the schematics for the 800 before losing his team and upon arriving at Skynet saw the factory full of 700s with the one active 800 or is that not the case?

So maybe the enameling process comes during the next step of production... one would think the teeth weren't real that way they could even do more damage if they bit the hell out of you :lol

i always wondered about the teeth.....synthetic enamel (most likely) but it would be creepy/funny to see 600's out in the field with bags harvesting teeth from skulls or pulling them from people in the camps. :lol

If those few features are what sets apart a T-700 and T-800, that's a rip. T-600 and T-800 are dramatically different. Logically, the T-700 would be a hybrid of the 2 designs, not T-800 with a rougher finish and metal teeth.

Simplified for you all:

preproduction = toys and magazines

final film cut = no 700s, even though T-Arnold did have smooth finished endo.

Marketing was too early to include revision.

I would think that he would've mentioned T700 if that were really the case. The movie clearly only talks about two models the 800 and the 600. There probably would've been data on the computer or something. The ones at the factory looked like the 800 to me.
