Did you guys read those leaks?

I read how the movie opens and then stopped. Good or bad I already know I'll catch this in the theater so I see no need to spoil the entire thing this far in advance. Your reaction to the spoilers tells me that this sounds like a stinker though so my expectations are that it'll be another T3/Genysis at best.

If it is true...than I don't know what to say. Sounds like a bad fan fiction. Congrats to make the first two movies meaningless if this is true and if it is...it just shows that Cameron does not care anymore at all.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=16466788&postcount=2895

So the movie starts off w John and Sarah sitting in a small beach bar in mexico deciding how to move on after T2. Carl the Terminator rolls up and unloads 3 shotgun blasts to little Johns chest and kills him. Sarah is knocked out by the terminator and comes to to find John dead and then it shows title and jumps to modern day. There's a title card that says Guatemala 1998. It's after Sarah's voiceover reveals that they did stop Skynet from rising, but there were other Terminators sent back to eliminate John. One just found him too late. Set in Mexico City, Grace arrives from 2042 and finds the new john connor who is the daniella character and they go on the run from the rev 9. Sarah comes and saves them on freeway and tells them she found them via gps texts she gets randomly w coordinates to terminators so she hunts them. The augmented human runs the coordinates on the text and she has the same coordinates tattooed on her body, so they go there and find arnold. He is the same t800 that killed john in the beginning. He lost his purpose after killing john so he just lived a life and developed a kind of conscience so he decided to help sarah find a purpose by texting her the coordinates. SO they all team up and kill the rev9. Big twist i guess is that skynet never existed but humans created a program called LEGION that basically became the new skynet. Judgment day happens in like 2020 something.it should be called Terminator Equal Opportunity. They even say they don't need men at one point in the movie. The classic Brad Fiedel theme isn't in it all and when Arnie opens the door in the cabin the Dun dun dun dun plays. Just bad.
Another leaker said:
All of the Terminators were sent back to kill John. They weren't sent from a new post-T2 timeline - they were all sent with Uncle Bob to different places to guarantee John's death. But when the T-800 terminates John in 1998, Skynet has already been prevented, so it's safe-guarding a future that no longer exists. The T-800 and Rev-9 re from alternate futures - The T-800 is from the same future as T1/T2, the Rev-9 from this new one with Legion. Super feminist at points in the film, but the story is well executed.
So then how the hell does Sarah have coordinates to the alternate future Rev9 if the t800 giving it to her wouldn't know anything about it? oh wait, my spider sense is tingling. What a cop out. So we have psychic t800 and a rev9 who can jump like Mario. I thought Cameron and Miller said they like their films grounded, yet we have terminators flying and sending other people flying like it's the damn Matrix.
Third leaker:
Hey, I was at the screening in Orange last night and can confirm some things if you want. I can give you some details but please dont post my name on anything as I signed an NDA and dont really want to get blackballed by my own industry Haha. I actually stayed after the screening and did a questionaire w the producers and stuff.
The leaks are true just very brief. I enjoyed the movie. This was an early cut and it had zero drag on it. 2 hrs or pure rush it was fun as hell. Some of the new characters are meh but Linda and Arnold crush it. The new character Grace is excellent as well
The only real issue I have is why the **** the new terminators look anything like the previous ones. Skynet never existed so how would this new program know how to model these things? Haha that's honestly one of my only gripes so there isnt much wrong w the film
Yeah no worries. I actually went there because I saw on an invite it said "R rated Sci fi from Major Motion Picture Studio" and I was like that has to be terminator. I was so excited
Its 100% R rated. I would say it feels similar but has more color than the other 2. Very similar look to Deadpool
And then the terminator walks up behind her as she is sitting waiting for Jon to grab her a new beer from the bar and when he turns around he shoots him. It's a really solid opening
And Sarah is phenomenal. Like that ****ing character is so well done
Feel free to share this w people if you want but please please blur out my name Haha

I read the first 3 lines and **** makes no sense. The film takes place 1998, but Sarah looks 30 years older? :lol Oh, and she's alive? Why? :slap

The rest sounds ridiculous too. If true, I'll wait for the free dvd at the library.

If these leaks are real, im pretty pissed that they've unceremoniously done away with the series' lynchpin character in the first 3 minutes in the name of "2019 rah rah girlpower!!!".

Idk. Who’s in charge of the film industry were they have to insert all these fake political notions into their movies and reverberate it back into the minds of the public.

I mean it’s not up to the directors, they don’t make that call. Even after the backlash in other films, they still insert this crap into their movies and it ruins the movie. People end up hating it anyway and the movie makes ****.

So then why put the crap in there? Are they trying to ruin these old movies and their ideas on purpose?? Strange.

Does the new movie have any connection to the Genysis film . But that would make no sense to have Hamilton’s Sarah Conner to Clarke’s Sarah

Didn’t Genysis end with Sarah staying in the past with the T-800 upgrade and John Conner erased from existence :dunno

At least with this, if/when it fails to find an audience just like the others, Terminator will finally be allowed to rest in peace. If a Cameron-proclaimed ''real Terminator 3'' fails I don't think they'll make any further attempts.

Nothing is over. You just don't turn it off.

If memory serves you align with me in that Genisys is actually an entertaining guilty pleasure sort of movie but in no way is it worthy of being taken seriously alongside the first two. So will this film even manage that...we'll see.

Well she's alive because T3:ROTM isn't canon to this film. I presume she'll be CG de-aged for the part that's set in 1998.

Pretty much seems like that's what they've done.

No there's no connection. It disregards all movies other than T1 and T2.

Cameron is really doing some shoddy work lately. Whatever it takes to finance his Avatar dreams.

Bad CGI, uninteresting been-there villain, and femme-power... all wrapped up in a familiar brand bow.

I bet the leaked plot is completely true. Someone leaked the plot for Genisys months before its release too. About 90% of it ended up being true and so much of it sounded fake. Especially the part about Arnie becoming part t-1000. :lol

Oh, and how could I forget

The T-800 that killed John goes on to live a life and develop a conscience?? :slap

How would this happen? Aren't they supposed to be on ''read-only'' mode when sent out by Skynet? Did someone flip his switch? Is he going to have emotions now aswell? I have a bad feeling about this

I've seen a few people bring this up, and as much as I don't want to defend this movie, people are forgetting that that line was from a deleted scene. Unlike the extended cut of Aliens, Cameron has said he thinks the theatrical cut of T2 is the superior cut, and is the canon version. In the theatrical cut, Uncle Bob says that he has a neural-net processor/learning computer, which allows him to learn from human behavior to be a better infiltrator. No need for a chip flip. No mention of any read-only mode.

This is true.

Also explains the first Terminator and everything it learned from human interaction. “**** you *******”.

Has he said that? I thought he preferred his special editions of both T2 and Aliens. I thought I preferred the theatrical cut of T2 but when I saw it again for the first time in years with the 3D version I found myself missing the added SE bits. So over the years I had come to prefer the SE without even realizing it.

Has he said that?

Yeah. I'm currently putting together a T2 master class for my wife's friend. Her favourite movie is T2, and I'm compiling everything I know. From script (treatment to shooting script and all the changes in between), behind-the-scenes articles and video, storyboards, commentaries, differences between theatrical, extended and remastered editions etc. ad nauseam. Basically, everything from the creative process to the themes in the narrative. The whole thing will span two days.

Cameron sort of hinted that he didn't think the special edition was important for any reason other than to show how editing can make a movie more succinct in the booklet for the Special Edition Laserdisc, but outright stated which version he preferred on the Special Edition DVD commentary.

“I still stand by the release version of the film. I don’t think we needed that dream sequence. I think we made the right decisions editorially, and I think that the dream sequence and some of the other things that we put back in for the extended version are good to sort of show the creative process, but, you know, essentially, making a film is an analytical and reductive process. You throw away the things you don’t need.”

While I agree with him, I also still prefer the extended cut simply because it gives me more time in a universe I really enjoy. And, like you, when I saw the 3D remaster after years of watching the extended cut it did feel jarring.

My preferred way to watch is extended cut, with ALL deleted scenes (even the T-1000 room scan) and the theatrical ending.

Ah, nice.

The only thing I don't like is that alternate ending with old Sarah with the bad make-up and the really dated idea of future clothing fashions etc so I'm glad that didn't make it into the SE, just as an extra.

The legendary smile scene of course had a devastating influence on how the T-800 would be treated in future movies but it works in T2. Context and things being earned is important.

Yeah I need the Special Edition same for Aliens.

Last time I saw the Aliens Theatrical cut was at one of those live orchestra showings and it just went by ridiculously fast. The film needs those colony scenes and the sentry gun scenes IMO.

Another thought pertaining to the major spoiler

James Cameron hated Alien 3 if I'm not mistaken. It killed Hicks and Newt and in doing so destroyed the family dynamic he had set up by the end of Aliens. Ripley's entire rescue of Newt became moot :lol

Yet this Terminator film he's producing and endorsing is essentially going to be the Alien 3 to Terminator 2. After everything that happened in T1 and T2 to preserve the existence of John Connor, he is going to be killed in Terminator Dark Fate before the opening titles have even played, not entirely unlike what happened with Newt.

Think about how it will play if you go from T2's ending into this given what's going to happen in this ''third'' movie almost immediately. You're really alright with this Cameron? K...then you should re-evaluate Alien 3

The issue is I don't think Cameron genuinely cares about this franchise anymore. Even though I didn't mind Genisys, the fact that he endorsed it says it all. :lol

To be honest, I think everyone is giving the "Cameron factor" here way too much thought. The man doesn't care. Basically, the only real role he has as a producer is funding the project. He's way more interested in other projects, and it's well known that he will shill for the Terminator franchise. He said he thought T3 was good Just because Arnie and Stan worked on it (and then trashed it on the Extreme Edition DVD commentary), and he said he saw Genisys as the third movie in the franchise. Can't recall what he said about Salvation, but I have a hard time even remembering that movie exists, myself.

With each interview he gives for this movie he has slowly given us more information as to exactly how little he has to do with this movie from a creative standpoint. Even going as far as to say he's not responsible if it sucks. Honestly, his "writing" credit on this movie probably extends about as far as him walking into the writing room and saying, "What if Sarah was a Terminator hunter?" and then five other writers threw that idea into their hat of random ideas.

The fact that they're stamping Cameron's name all over this is just a marketing ploy. Same as saying it's a direct continuation of T2 and getting Linda back. This Sarah Connor is going to be a cardboard cut out caricature of the actual, fleshed out character she played in the first two movies, and she and Arnie are probably going to be relegated to tertiary characters. They're only there, along with the assertion of "The real T3" to pull in the nostalgic, jaded fans that they've lost over the last 30 years.

We all should stop focusing on the fact that this has Cameron's name on it and see this for what it is. A slightly reshuffled Genisys written by marketers. Having Cameron's name on it is essentially the same as a soda company not changing their product at all but having throwback packaging and stamping "Classic Formula" on the packaging to entice buyers.

In 1998, John Connor is murdered by a T-800 sent back in time by Skynet. However, John, his mother Sarah Connor and the reprogrammed T-800 have already prevented Judgment Day and changed the future.

In 2019, cyber-enhanced warrior Grace arrives from 2042 to protect Dani Ramos from Rev-9, a Terminator sent back to assassinate her. Rev-9 kills Dani’s brother and father, while Sarah rescues Dani and Grace, who doesn’t know who she is. Sarah explains that since John’s death, she has been hunting down newly-arrived Terminators with the help of an anonymous source, whom they learn is the T-800 that killed John. The T-800 has been living among humans since completing his mission, developed a conscience and decided to help Sarah prevent the other Terminators from killing innocents to preserve a future that no longer exists.

Grace reveals that although Skynet was never created, the United States military developed an artificial intelligence called “Legion” that went rogue and caused Judgment Day in 2022, leading to a war between humans and machines. Dani is an important figure for the Resistance, and they recruited Grace to protect her from Rev-9. Sarah begrudgingly works with the T-800 to help Grace protect Dani.

Rev-9 destroys the T-800 before Grace manages to defeat him, and Sarah apparently sacrifices herself to save Dani. The movie ends with Dani and Grace setting out to destroy Legion before it can turn against humanity.

Update 2: According to other posters on reddit who claim to have been at the screening, the 4chan ending is fake.

The ending is supposedly as follows:

Grace has a power cell inside her body. She asks Sarah to remove it in order to stop the Rev 9. Sarah loses the power cell during the fight, but Carl/T-800 gets a hold of it and uses it to destroy the Rev-9, sacrificing himself in the process. Grace dies, while Sarah and Dani both survive.

Dani Ramos is basically the replacement for John Connor, while Grace is this reboot's version of Kyle Reese. Skynet has been replaced by Legion.

Man this sounds like that we copy paste the same old story...put 1 twist in it and call it a day. Thats's sound horrible...they truly have no idea what they are doing with the franchise. Just let it die already. How the hell those guys at the meetings thought it is a good idea and a good story after 3big ass failures? It is just beyond me...stupidity at its finest.

Sounds like the work of Disney. Acquire classic franchise, bring back original actors to lure the old fans, remake the same basic story, just change the name of everything and use primarily female cast for any new characters.

Inspired. :rolleyes2
