If memory serves you align with me in that Genisys is actually an entertaining guilty pleasure sort of movie but in no way is it worthy of being taken seriously alongside the first two. So will this film even manage that...we'll see.

You know I wouldn't even call Genysis a "guilty" pleasure. Just a non-canon one. It's harmless and fun enough for me IMO. Enough so that I actually did want to see where they went with the story next. Hated Jai Courtney and the CG helicopters of course, as well as them spoiling everything in the early trailers. That said I haven't actually watched it in a good three years now so for all I know I'd see it again and say what was I thinking and then throw the blu-ray in the trash, lol.

But yes I'm definitely wondering if TDF will even reach Genysis levels of mindless fun. From the spoiler bits I've read this doesn't sound at all like anything Cameron would have written had he been allowed to continue the trilogy in 1994 or 95. Hell it sounds like he's *already* distancing himself from *this* film *more* than he did from Genysis!

Read all the spoilers and I believe every single one, even the contradictory ones. :lol
It sounds like a reboot of the franchise with new actors in similar roles to the past ones and adjusted to satisfy modern delusional progressivism.
An unnecessary attempt to revitalize a completely dead franchise. Cameron should just concentrate on revitalizing his dying Avatar franchise and stop encouraging the ruin of his past successes. We can ignore all the sequels including DF watching just T1 & 2, but in the back of your mind, those nuisances still linger.

Another thought pertaining to the major spoiler

James Cameron hated Alien 3 if I'm not mistaken. It killed Hicks and Newt and in doing so destroyed the family dynamic he had set up by the end of Aliens. Ripley's entire rescue of Newt became moot :lol

Yet this Terminator film he's producing and endorsing is essentially going to be the Alien 3 to Terminator 2. After everything that happened in T1 and T2 to preserve the existence of John Connor, he is going to be killed in Terminator Dark Fate before the opening titles have even played, not entirely unlike what happened with Newt.

Think about how it will play if you go from T2's ending into this given what's going to happen in this ''third'' movie almost immediately. You're really alright with this Cameron? K...then you should re-evaluate Alien 3

Wow, I never thought of it that way. It goes to show you how much Cameron has changed. I hope a smart reporter brings that up during a Cameron Terminator: DF press junket just to see him squirm and then cop-out.

It's over for the Terminator (cough cough) "franchise" This will flop as bad as the last one. Cameron thinks he can just twiddle his thumbs through his last few flops and Avatar will save the day...we will see

Has Cameron ever had a flop? Besides, he couldn't care less. His name being attached to this means absolutely nothing, it's purely for marketing purposes to win "fans" back.

I wish Arnie & Linda had just flat turned this down, I'm more intrigued to see Linda on screen then Arnie, being that she hasn't been in the franchise since T2.

Here is a really positive breakdown of the upcoming film, I found.

It cant be as bad as he's making out?

I loved Linda in T1 and T2 but I don't see how anyone could be excited about her return, especially after the trailer. :lol

Basic premise - taken from Terminator 1, 2 and 3

Judgment Day is inevitable, Skynet or some form of it will arise even when efforts to prevent it had seemed successful - taken from Terminator 3

The hero T-800 is the same T-800 that killed John Connor - taken from Terminator 3

This T-800 is a relic of a deleted timeline - per a line of dialogue in Terminator Genisys

A Terminator/human hybrid - taken from Terminator Salvation

Baddie Terminator morphing onto hood of vehicle mid car chase and attempting to jump onto fleeing truck - taken from Terminator Genisys (and at least that T-1000 looked pretty cool)

CGI, probably physics defying Plane chase - equivalent of CGI, probably physics defying Helicopter chase in Terminator Genisys

It's been so long since I've truly cared about anything Terminator besides the 1/6th figures. Maybe 1991 was the last time it impacted me. Without exciting new tech, it loses its sci-fi roots and becomes nothing more than a jerk-off time-travel gag.

Truthfully, there are so many other interesting "robot" stories that could be made, and instead they keep resurrecting a mediocre one from 1984. Terminators and Skynet is an exhausted concept, ripe only for repetition.

I mostly agree with you. I´m severly numbed and not at all looking forward to DY. But what I STILL would care about is a future war movie. A REAL future war movie, which would end with Kyle and the Terminator going back. This I would still watch and would be extremly hyped about...IF made right.

Not perfect but still pretty amazing:

.........That's good. Maybe they can practice in front of a mirror, or something.

:lol
The Arnie on Conan one is pretty amazing though.
In ten years they'll have it perfected, in twenty it'll be in the hands of the average joe and we can fix a lot of these movies ourselves, Hollywood will throw a fit and have it banned, then we'll have actual Terminators show up at our doors to confiscate our re-imagined movies... Judgment day.

You know the not quite perfect compositing kind of makes it seem like how a real Terminator might actually look. I would picture that there'd always be slightly "off" about a fake 3D human, no matter how advanced the tech was that made him.

I'll still stand by that every Terminator movie had something to love. The last 10 minutes of T-3 was amazing, the TV show had some great episodes, the extermination camp scene in Terminator Salvation was just how I imagined it described in T-1, and even the time travel scene from Genysis from the perspective of T-1 was interesting.

As crappy as im expecting this to be, maybe it will have something enjoyable.

So that's what it's come to, huh? Maybe it will have a few minutes of enjoyment? :lol

So if Dark Fate is a follow up to T2, what T-800 is he :dunno

All the merch says Arnold is a T-800 in this

How?

Terminator: Crunched
T2: Burned to a crisp
T3: destroyed

Cameron is losing it :horror
