Well that?s what Linda wanted.

I get that the financial backers want the same product just safely retold over and over again BUT then why not just redo the T1 aesthetics and budget with low risk why take the route that has proven to fail 3 consecutive times already.

They took the high risk road over again while erroneously believing they were taking the low risk approach so freaking odd lol

I still absolutely loved that future war scene UNTIL the lame character introduction happened.

Imagine if at the end of the T2 future war prologue they showed *Edward Furlong* trying to look tough holding the binoculars. :slap lol

How the hell did no one on the set of DF realize how laughably ridiculous Dani looked in her army gear.

I believe that the best parts of Dark Fate were probably where Cameron had the most input and the worst are likely all Tim Miller. I started watching with the commentary to see what sort of insight you might get, and listening to him talk, it?s like hearing a college aged fanboy drinking a beer and getting hopped up about the cool **** he was given money to be able to do. He doesn?t sound like a thoughtful filmmaker and at first I was bummed he didn?t come back for Deadpool 2 but now I feel like that movie was lightning in a bottle for him and his one trick is up, from now on I?m skeptical of anything with his name attached.

That was honestly my biggest issue with movie. There's absolutely no explanation or reasoning behind why dani could or would become some grand military leader.

There was a good reason john went on to become a leader, it's literally what he was born to do. He had an aptitude for it and was trained early and had inside knowledge no one should know.

But didn't she talk tough to her boss with regard to requesting time off or something, that clearly prepared her for uniting a bunch of post-apocalyptic rapists into an elite fighting force capable of defeating weaponized AI, lol.

This speaks to something I’ve noticed as a difference between the first 2 films and this one, pacing is very fast and we’re thrust pretty quickly into the events, the movie is almost aimed at fans and saying, hey, you know who John Connor is, well here’s new John, and it expects you to just accept this is the person who would serve his role in the new future. Dani should have been treated like T1 Sarah and had the movie really build on her growth.

The one take away that can sell her rise to that person is riding off with Sarah, presumably she will be trained by Sarah as John was, and probably why she had Carl’s coordinates to give and all of that, but it’s more rushed than Sarah or John’s developments in T1 or T2, it’s like they’re afraid to bore the audience with story.

Agreed and the side by side stills of Dark Fate's crappy cinematography next to T2 and all those little clips of Brad Fiedel's iconic score just make it all the more embarrassing.

Well even with my immediate enthusiasm after first watching it I still gave it "only" a 6/10. I knew it wasn't a great (or even "really good") movie but I just loved the ideas that it proposed and got caught up in seeing Arnie and Linda together and providing decent (and endearing with regard to Carl) performances. Those elements really clouded my objective scrutiny of the rest of the film IMO.

Yes there were some truly inspired elements and I think even that YouTuber conceded that building an entire movie around a reformed "Carl" as the main character instead something shoehorned into their subpar T2 remake would have taken the things that I did love about DF's story and provided a worthy context for them and also offered a valid justification for continuing the story.

As it stands yeah I redact my assertion that DF will ever be anything close to canon next to T1 and/or T2.

The poster frame I ordered for my double sided TROS one sheet just shipped, lol.

:yess:
Im still pissed Disney Movie Rewards, or sorry, Insiders in no longer offering posters. This is the only Star Wars movie that I don't own at least one movie poster for.

I think it went too far into silliness in places which made a bizarre juxtaposition with the gorier/grim stuff. And the music score is godawful. Still cool to see the old stop-motion effects though.

I like robocop 2 but it's not directed by Paul Verhoeven. It's star wars guy trying to do an impression of his directing style but didn't quite get it.
