I agree with most. The first movie was just decent at best and felt like a retread of past movies. This movie actually feels like a new spiderman film and one with a bigger world than the ones before.

Yeah, I felt like TASM really did a great job at establishing what could be and not just limiting it to a finite number of scenarios. Lots of possibilities this time around.

I really enjoyed the Raimi films, but I don't know what it was about Webb, but it really opened up a lot of possibilities, IMO. If they can duplicate what they did was TASM and bring it up a notch, I'll be extremely happy. I know a lot of people didn't care for TASM, but I found it really enjoyable. I've seen it more times than I care to admit, and it still has a 'fresh' quality about it.

I could never really get into the Raimi films. I tried as I'd always loved Spiderman since I was a kid and really wanted a great spidey movie. But I just couldn't enjoy the Raimi films. So I was really glad when I heard they were going to reboot. And then the more I saw, the promo images, the trailers, I loved it all and the film didn't disappoint. I wouldn't put it up there with the greatest movies of all time but I certainly think its underrated. I think a lot of people loved the Raimi films and so are just against these on principle, so it's really refreshing to hear someone like yourself who enjoys both versions and I totally respect that. :1-1:

I suppose that's the problem with a reboot, especially if they're doing another origin story, there are certain aspects that are going to be repeated. I know its a little thing but I do LOVE the inclusion of webshooters this time around. I remember when they announced with the first Raimi film they were going to be organic and just thought it was dumb.

But I agree, these feel like they're going to be setting up a whole world. Which I love.

Let's start a little possy of ASM lovers!

I'm in

I enjoyed it far more than I did any of the Raimi movers, the problem I found with them (Amongst the others that folks have shared) was the dialogue, it was pure cheese most of the time. Especially when MJ wishes Pete happy birthday in the back yard, all whispery and just, ugh!

Bizzarely, the one thing that pulled me a bit out of the ASM story was the holographic Iron Man tech

Iget it is Iron Mna, Tony is a genius with his private gadgets, it shows what kind of guy he is with his fancy tech, even though it isn't real

but in ASM, it bothered me because it's not real! :rotfl In a film about mutant lizards and guys sticking to walls, it's unrealistic tech that throws me

I dunno, what's wrong with me?!

I was in love with the Raimi films, even SM3! :horror I thought they were all well made, but they certainly had that Raimi humor/flavor mixed in that made them unique.

And I agree with that. People stuck with the Raimi incarnations, and resent these new films as a result. I was ALMOST one of those people. I saw the line and here I am, awesome avatar and all.

That's what I don't get when people complain about the origin story in TASM. If you're going to do a reboot, you got to retell it. Then, some will say that you don't need to spend a lot of time on it though. But I disagree. If you're a new director. You're going to want to retell it, in YOUR way. Do what you want with it. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to get bored hearing it again. I've only seen it on film....once before. Not like I've seen it 20 times. When that happens, I'll be the first to raise my hand.

I'm in too. w00t! :hi5: :lol

The holographic IM tech?? You mean the tech that OSCORP is using in the labs to display the DNA sequencing/recombination? I think it fit pretty well. I didn't really think of relating it to Iron Man, but I can definitely appreciate that. They had a lot of that in there. Tony was the poster child for that.

Uncanny, I have to ask. I know you used to be 'Nova' and I see people call you 'Nova' still, but do you prefer that?

Basically, I need a nickname for you and I have no nickname for you! :lol Uncanny is still too long. And 'UWS' forces me to stretch across the keyboard more than I'd like, so we need to figure out something better. :lol

I don't mind either way really. i changed it cos i fancied a change but it never caught on :lol

As long as you don't get offended by Nova, I'm going to call you 'Nova.' I miss that name of yours. I still like the new one, but you know.

So, what were your thoughts on the new trailer? Have you chimed in yet? I know you did, but I'll ask anyway. :lol

Speaking of Nova, or Novae, did anyone see what a new Nova has been discovered, Nova Centauri

I'll leave it there though as i guess this isn' the thread for it! :)

I had NOT heard of that, but very interesting. I will check it out and read about it a bit more.

This thread should be boomin', guys. I'm not impressed.

Haha your real excited about this movie huh? Im glad this movie is getting more positive feedback instead of the last one. The trailer really made people see that this spiderman was just as fun as raimi's version and wasnt going to be a dark somber spidey like most people feared.

Oh, for sure. The last movie really got me amped. I love of the pre-movie hype with the virals, ARGs, trailers, etc. Then, you got to brush up on all of the history, so you got your act together. By then, it's showtime! :rock

I really like what Webb is doing. He's distancing himself from Raimi and I think really opening the throttle with the franchise. I like it.
