I wonder how this rule affects certain movies that the majority hated like lets say Transformers or something. I get that people have different tastes but some movies get a lot of hate. Im thinking the Ninja Turtles is going to be one. So I wonder how it applies to that thread for example. Someone that doesn't care about the Turtle movie might start reporting comments out of spite?

I take it to mean, if you have an issue with a movie, say what the issue is, ie... I don't like shaky cam action, or I think they went with the wrong actor, or they didn't stay true to the source.... things which can be discussed, rather than just dropping into a thread and saying, "this movie is crapola".
But honestly, who knows.

Dont forget saying the same thing over and over again. I mean damn come up with somthing new. All this "hey dude its brolectro and ****** parker" is getting old by the 300 th page.

You are not allowed to insult movies made by Marvel Studios, as they are apparently perfection put to digital celluloid. All others are fair game.

If you really like or hate something, go ahead and express it but I keep seeing it go from "this film is garbage" to "everyone who likes this film is garbage". I'd like to think I could walk down the street and not have to worry about some nut insulting me to the point where it could get physical... over comic book films. Someone somewhere has to stop feeding into it.

Nothing against the poster who called it "garbage" but I reported it multiple times over the hours since Dave's post as an experiment. The mods probably think I'm nuts, because this type of posting is so frequent, it just seems normal.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I really don't think we should only allow positive and/or uncritical comments. We can't be allergic to disagreements. I've gotten down in it with some members here (including you Niltusk! ) and I realize it's pretty easy to get insulted online, especially when you really identify with an idea. I try to stay specific to the subject matter so that people don't immediately think I'm trash talking just for the hell of it. Nothing's perfect but at a certain point if it gets too intense, it's better for me to step away for a minute than to ride that wave. I've gotten alot of introspection from reading comments from just about every one of the regulars here. I'd hate to see bans come down when all it takes is a little more finesse and consideration.

I think Nam has alot of good insight when you get past the flames. All that's needed is a little space for people to maintain a modicum of respect. All you can really do is keep posting your ideas and hope other people share them. No sense in trying to purge the thread of unwanted views. Besides, I'm in my thirties and I don't derive a great amount of pride in getting into snark matches with young guys half my age. There's no cure for generation gap!

I think alot of it comes down to an influx of people who hold grudges. One of the worst arguments I've ever had on these boards, since you mentioned him, was with Nam and it ended with like 5 pages (not posts, PAGES) being deleted. The difference between then and now is, the mods stepped in and we both stopped. He didn't go from thread to thread trying to call me out and continue some sort of "internet rivalry" and I didn't do that either. Just because we disagreed on one subject, I'm not going to hold a grudge against the guy.

But, I think that sort of calm down and get over it is gone. I see the patterns, theres people that log in and look for certain other posters, just to side against them because they don't like them. Or they wait for someone else to argue with their target then just follow behind posting to be little trolls, little gangs, whatever you want to call them. Maybe I have selective memory, but I don't remember anyone being pissy to me later, just because we got into an argument in the past, but that seems to be becoming the norm now.

I have no problem with people who hate this movie. You can hate asm all you want, I don't care. It's just people who just come here to whine on how electro is blue and all that. If you say somthing good about the movie someone will come along and say your opnion is stupid.

Granted it's not as bad as a certain person who kept coming in here claiming these movies are ripping off raimi.

Also people need to learn that just because one likes asm doesn't mean they think it's perfect nor does it mean they hate the originals .
