I don't understand. Is everyone just hating on this because "it's cool" to knock and take the piss out of every pixel released, (thanks to Jye, Nam and a few other of our in-house comedians
) or is there something else going on? I mean this thread is great fun and all..I would consider myself pretty balanced in my opinion of this movie, and there has been some outstanding material released so far. That weird mutant goblin thing?
Sure he looks like Evil Ed, but it's the darkest looking design I've seen in a summer blockbuster for a while. And it's more interesting than ANYTHING I've seen so far from Singer's latest. Winter Soldier looks good but dull in a Bourne way. And this young guy is a pretty solid actor, I'm in the wait and see camp with this... I don't have green tinted goggles for the power ranger we saw in Raimi's pic, even though Dafoe was outstanding, as he normally is.
Dunno, maybe I just love Spidey.

It's that the design of the villains is horrid, absolutely laughably horrid, and there's a contingent here that swears to all that's holy that they're the best thing to happen to civilization since electricity. The designs aren't even remotely reminiscent of the source material, but you have certain people finding obscure pics from a single panel and claiming it's straight cloned from the page.
That said, the suit and the fact that they're likely going to kill Gwen this flick are about the only intriguing aspects we've seen. A shame, really. There should be loads more to be excited about with this film.
Don't even get me started on the Zimmer soundtrack.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch, I mean, if you present it to the average movie going audience in the right way then they'll accept it rather than laugh at it, the guy is meant to be a complete nutcase, so a freak halloween mask that he drapes over his face would be downright freaky
I'm never gonna see it on screen, am I?

I agree with Nam, that the villains look pretty ridiculous here. Why the Beetlejuice hair?? I do think the pissed off expression looks convincing. Hell, I think Foxx looks pretty good as Electro in terms of the expressions and body language we've seen. But they put him in that rubber suit, paint him blue with glowing veins, give him glow in the dark eyes, make him bald so his head looks HUGE when he's wearing that form-fitting wetsuit, and he looks wacky.
I actually appreciate that these guys are embracing some more outrageous costume designs, and I do prefer all of this over what Singer is doing, but neither is at that happy medium where you can have a fantastic looking character design work, as I think Marvel Studios has done very effectively. I think some minor tweaks of any of these characters could be improvements. I actually think Electro looks OK with just the hoodie on, even if it's still far less than ideal for a classic comic fan.

I don't mind Electro, they're obviously going for the Ultimate Electro look, but I just love the original design, the green and yellow is awesome, as is the mask, but I get that perhaps Electro's costume wouldn't translate well to big screen
It's all the bells and whistles that they add to these skin suits, what do they do exactly? It's all just for show really, that's why I liked the TDK suit, somewhat practical explanations

He doesn't even need the mask, His face is fine, The problem is that they should have made his skin just totally green, AND like in the picture quoted they should have covered his head with something, at least to hide his hair.
Green skin with his crazy face like it is and the hair not showing would have been good enough, Close enough to the goblin AND would have allowed the actor to be able to use his face for showing expression (Since a mask would probably not be as good for that)
I really don't understand why they couldn't just make his skin more green, a simple paint application and he would have looked better, wtf
