It's that the design of the villains is horrid, absolutely laughably horrid, and there's a contingent here that swears to all that's holy that they're the best thing to happen to civilization since electricity. The designs aren't even remotely reminiscent of the source material, but you have certain people finding obscure pics from a single panel and claiming it's straight cloned from the page. :lol

That said, the suit and the fact that they're likely going to kill Gwen this flick are about the only intriguing aspects we've seen. A shame, really. There should be loads more to be excited about with this film. :(

Don't even get me started on the Zimmer soundtrack. :lol

I agree with Nam, that the villains look pretty ridiculous here. Why the Beetlejuice hair?? I do think the pissed off expression looks convincing. Hell, I think Foxx looks pretty good as Electro in terms of the expressions and body language we've seen. But they put him in that rubber suit, paint him blue with glowing veins, give him glow in the dark eyes, make him bald so his head looks HUGE when he's wearing that form-fitting wetsuit, and he looks wacky.

I actually appreciate that these guys are embracing some more outrageous costume designs, and I do prefer all of this over what Singer is doing, but neither is at that happy medium where you can have a fantastic looking character design work, as I think Marvel Studios has done very effectively. I think some minor tweaks of any of these characters could be improvements. I actually think Electro looks OK with just the hoodie on, even if it's still far less than ideal for a classic comic fan.

Nope, still don't get it. I have issues with ASM myself, and by the look of it this one too. But the villains don't look any worse than the Raimi films, and they seem to have gotten a pass...? there was one decent villain in all 3 of those movies. The others were all laughable..

Both Goblins were hokey as ****, but Doc Ock was great, Sandman couldn't have been more perfect and although the character was cheesy, Venom didn't look laughable. Matter of fact, the trailer teaser with Venom had almost everybody excited.

But here, we got a Super Mario Bros. "Lizard" with a human face last flick. Now we're looking at a Treyvon Freeze Brolectro, a Bayformer mech "Rhino" which looks more like a bipedal, wingless Gorilla-Pterodactyl hybrid, and an armored Leprechaun version of Leonardo DiCaprio as Goblin.

Passes aren't being given. Assiness is being called out equally. :lol

When did "Power Ranger Goblin" and "Snowboardin' Harry" ever get a "pass"? They've both been ripped apart since their conception, have they not? I remember when the Dafoe Goblin look was first unveiled people ripped it to shreds.

But in comparison to what we're getting now? Yeah, that Dafoe Goblin actually looks decent. He's green, he had the lens eyes, the cackling grin and ears. Yeah, they both have that stupid armor, but atleast the 'OG' (Original Goblin, not gangster) has a symmetrical suit that doesn't look half finished and crazy *** looking hair.

As for the others, Ock was fine, great even. Nobody complained about Sandman. Venom? People loved the look, it was the characterization and story concerning him that everyone had a problem with. It's only been the Goblin's that have been criticized, and rightfully so. This however, is looking better and better with every pic we get of the new guy. :lol

I don't even want to know what the "decapitated and dead", cryogentically frozen headed Norman Osborn is going to look like as the "Goblin" of his universe.

PM me them nudez jye. I want to see if her sarlacc is the original or Special Edition.

:lol :lol :lol

you should see her Sarlacc Pit. :panic:

:lol

As for the rest, you guys have too much nostalgia for the Raimi movies. Maybe it's an age thing. Doc Oc was fantastic, William Dafoe was amazing as Norman, but his costume was the most ridiculous thing ever. Hasn't been topped yet IMO. Sandman? Good casting, awful VFX, Venom? Complete waste of space. Those movies were cheesy as ****. In a Raimi way, which normally I love very dearly as I'm a huge fan. And I detested the Lizard in ASM, but we have some decent actors this time round, wait and see is all I'm saying. Bad CG is bad CG, it was in the 2007 and it is in 2012/14.

I think some of the footage released so far has genuine promise. I'm not writing it off.

No. That is incorrect. I would take Evil Ed from Fright Night (on acid) any day over that Toy'R"Us Goblin suit. It is the biggest abomination in the history of movie costume design. That's not my opinion, it's official. They had a huge poll about it a few years ago. All the people who matter and have got good taste said it was the worst costume ever.

Okay, if you say so. :lol

LOL Exactly.

I think the others here share my views for the most part. I never cared for SM1 Gobby, but I think he does somehow look better in juxtaposition with the crazy Beetlejuice guy here. I thought Doc Ock was a'aight. Imagining him wearing green and yellow spandex isn't an improvement over a guy with slacks and a trench coat or whatever it was, so maybe that was the best we could expect. I am no fan of Spider-Man 3, so I wouldn't say I'm nostalgic for it. I haven't intentionally watched it since seeing it at the theater. But like others, I thought Sandman was perfect--just like the comic, but not cheesy and no one seems to have complained at the time--while Venom was pretty good, though a crappy character shoehorned in. He could have been bulkier, but. . .I think that so far, ASM loses the villain beauty contest with the Raimi films by a pretty dang wide margin.
