Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Is there a sneak specifically at SDCC? I thought the big news was all these studios pulling out of the event.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

not sure, just hoping. I heard about the films pulling out. I hope this isnt one of them though.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Wish that a teaser was in tf3 like it was rumored.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Where was this announced?

A couple weeks ago, So far Warner Bros., Dreamworks and Disney have pulled out and decided not to show any films. And Marvel Studios just announced they won't be there. :(
That means we won't get anything from The Dark Knight Rises or The Avengers :(

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Have they given any reason why the studios aren't going to have movies there? It seems like movies tend to get alot of attention after their SDCC presence.

I read someplace that this film would have a strong presence at Comic-Con this year.

Because the studios have realized that SDCC Excitement doesn't equal Box Office revenue and that the studios get all excited about their films without really having a basis. Scott Pilgrim, Tron: Legacy, Green Lantern were all films that were darlings at Comic-Con that didn't translate into any kind of Box Office. Other films were mentioned...I thought the article was in this forum?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I think that this will be a one or two year overreaction by some of the studios. All it will take is a couple 2-3 films that are at this year or next and anybody who hedged will be back.

I don't know where the original article is but here are links to the same:

Josh might be right that it's an overreaction but it's definitely not a bad thing. Movies need to be polished and taken seriously and just because a room full of nerds lose their ____ at footage doesn't mean everything is going golden. Studios recently have been putting way too much weight on Comic-Con in general.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

That's fair enough for non comic based movies but when studios are not even bringing a comic movie to SDCC it's strange.

It is strange a little but unless this goes on for 2-3 more years I wouldnt make much about it.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

It isn't really that strange considering the way the studios have been bitten but it IS strange for Marvel Studios who hasn't had a bad showing and haven't been hit hard with box office tallies. They've been great in both box office and SDCC presentations, so that one scratches the head.

Nolan never does these things so I don't know why they are making a big deal about it but I'm sure they'll be a viral in full running while SDCC is running.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The Comic movies are a bit strange but to be honest most of the films they talk about like Scott Pilgrim are pretty overrated (from my pov). GL and Tron not hitting the BO better surprised me of course. Moral of the story bring good films and they will last with people.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Was First Class represented at last years show. For me it's been the best comic book movie this year but hasn't made a huge amount of money.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

No, I don't think they had any promotion at last years Comic Con. I know for sure there was no panel.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yeah, no First Class last year. I was actually surprised when I saw the first trailer as I expected it to be one of those internet rumor movies that never actually gets made.

I do think comic movies not showing up to SDCC sucks, but it makes sense. Why waste money promoting a movie to the people you know are going no matter what? Same with the viral marketing. We are already going. No need to further waste money on getting us to the theaters. :dunno
