Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Rumblings are that Marvel will be center stage at the Anaheim Disney event in august.

Yes, I have an "almost" inside source :lol

Avengers footage/actors are being saved for this.

Disney is sending SDCC a message, we own Marvel, you can't have them for your "Comic Con!"

Imagine going to a race car show where they debut new exotic cars and Bugatti (Marvel) or Ferrari (Marvel) are not attending.

What's happening here is indeed a big deal.

Then again, I could be wrong :lol

Did disney by the entire Marvel studios and comics? I thought they just bought out the rides for Disneyland and DisneyWorld?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Oh no. The next thing we'll see is a Spider-Man sitcom on Disney Channel.

Seriously though, if Disney treats the Marvel's with respect then I'm fine with it. A lot of Disney movies are rad. Pirates, Indy, Star Wars.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Sort of. Sony/Columbia owns the movie rights to Spider-Man but the character is copyrighted property of the Walt Disney Corporation. It is up to Sony whether or not to attend SDCC but it's not like they can do whatever the ____ they want with it. Marvel/Disney still holding the strings to the character itself and trust me, Sony isn't doing a damn thing to jeopardize their standings with Marvel. One ____ up and Disney will pull those contracts on the breach so fast it'll make Mickey's ears flip. Disney has been actively looking for Sony and/or Fox to ____ up somewhere so they can pull their characters since acquisition.

Marvel has been slowly inserted into the Disney programming for awhile now though...they can't be in the parks in Florida due to contracts with Universal but things are already in the works for Disneyland and all of the foreign parks.

That I didn't know, my wife was just asking if there will be a Marvel Land like Pixar Cars out in Cali.

They should make a ride where you reak havoc and destroy a styrofoam city and vehicles while you're operating a Hulk mech :lol

Then a dude dressed like Spiderman comes and shoots you with a ton of web but you break free and then The Avengers stunt crew come out and proceed to kick your ass! :horror

Ride over. :lol

Mike, you go first, I can wait for second :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

There will be no breach of contract for Sony to promote their own film at SDCC. In fact, were Disney/Marvel to try and stop them THEY'D likely be the ones in a legal imbroglio.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Well, all set aside. Were getting a new Spidey. Can't wait.

X2.

Really ready to see the new take on SM. Whiners about the suit aside. I really have been liking what i've been hearing about what they're trying to do with this film. From less CGI, to more of a loosely based on USM/Peter/ modern take. I liked the first two Raimi films very much, but some stuff made you go WTF.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yeah exactly. Plus the movie will come out. People will love it and they will all own a hot toys figure of the suit and _____ about how it differs from the suit in the movie. I can't wait to see what they do this time with him. And I think the casting for Peter is really good as well.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm also looking forward to this. If the movie is good, nobody is going to give a crap about the suit. I was one of those that doubted X-Men First Class and that really proved me wrong.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Same here, I thought most of the X-mens were really cheesy, Fist Class definitely had its cheesy parts but so far it's my favorite film of the year. And I don't really even like X-men. Seems like Marvel has a pretty tight no nonsense rule when it comes to movies. None of them are really "bad" especially their newer franchises that people said will never work. Thor, First Class, Iron Man etc.

No I know that, what I meant was it isn't clear cut and dry as Sony owns movie Spider-Man case closed. Disney's lawyers according to the latest articles are STILL looking for loopholes or ways to get out of the contracts especially since Fox or Sony have expressed that they aren't selling any time soon so you know that Disney is paying close attention to both companies for any snaffus. Sony is smart and they'll play ball according to their contracts but a lot of that still goes through Marvel's check offs as well including licensing.
