I don't have a problem with MJ knowing he is Spidey. I mean, how many times did she get kidnapped before she even found out he was Spider-man? She gets zero protection not knowing

I went to this Webb guy's website and watched some of his stuff (well, his compilation type video). I've got to say, I'm not familiar with any of his film work, but he seems to be a very competent director with some interesting visual ideas. Being a music video director is by no means a negative thing in itself (that's where David Fincher and Spike Jonze got their starts).

The one thing that the 3 movies lacked was Parker's scientific intelligence and wise ass remarks. I hope they include a ____load of wise ass remarks.

Well, I think this is debatable, but they certainly have different attitudes/styles of humor.

Personally, I will never accept that a Liefeld creation can rival Spidey in terms of anything positive.

Personally I have no problems with Ultimate Spidey as the lead in for the next series it'll be different to to already separate themselves from Raimi's batch I read them through the Carnage storyline then I quickly lost interest. I think they can get a few movies out of them and the villains are all tied to more realistic creations. I love the Ultimate Green Goblin personally.

Some people actually liked Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane??? Good lord, she looked like a used condom... and her acting was even worse. Mary Jane is supposed to be the hottest chick around (way out of Parker's league) with wit and personality to burn. Dunst was nowhere near any of that.

I'd rather ____ Bea Arthur than Dunst not to mention everything her snaggletooth smile showed up on screen I felt like I was going to ralph. She can't act her way out of a bag and from the go it was difficult to imagine that this:

Ugh. Mary Jane isn't a part in Shakespeare here, she is just the damsel in distress at times or another pain in Peter's ass. Not to mention she is supposed have the nerd sex appeal to all the macho going on around it. They could have at least gotten some eyecandy to go "I don't know Pete" or "Things are different Pete" or whatever academy award winning dialogue they had her spew. Seriously, its like her parts were written by the dialogue scribe in a porn film with how important she actually was. I still cringe in Spider-Man 1 during the rain scene thinking "Eww...I didn't know treasure trolls actually had nipples"...

I dug the nips; I also didn't mind Dunst in the role. I think her dialogue sucked but that wasn't her fault. The movies could have been better but I enjoyed the first two.

That's my point, though. Sure, they could have gotten an actual model or someone more traditionally beautiful to be Mary Jane. And if the argument is purely that Dunst didn't look like MJ in the comics did, fine. But Dunst is good looking and did what she was supposed to do, in my opinion. if you want to say that Dunst is a troll, look-wise, I'm sorry, but she isn't. She's better looking than the good looking girl we all actually went to high school with. If not, she wouldn't have a movie career.

As for the model/actresses out there with all the acting talent required to appropriately convey the nuanced wit and intelligence of MJ (for those of you who seem to think this is one of MJ's personality traits that needed transference to the screen), who are they? That chick from Resident Evil? Ann Hathaway? Scarlett Johannsson? Dunst is equal to any of them in terms of acting, and possibly even a better actress than Res. Evil woman or the much ballyhooed (and much over-rated) Johannsson, in my opinion.

You're kidding right? Dunst is a habitual waverider. Hollywood is a whore and will cater to whomever is hot at present time, it takes real talent in order to maintain. She was all the rage for her turn in Interview with a Vampire which led her to be casted for a bit in films that didn't make much box office really because she soured until Bring It On which she quickly became of the poster children for the teenage set which she rode until Spider-Man which she has been continually riding until now. After Spider-Man 2 she was quoted as saying she was about done with it but then her turns in the next string of movies especially her laughable portrayal as Marie Antoinette was all over web and articles and ultimately led her to do Spider-Man 3. Then after that she continues to talk crap and then bam movies that still make no money and all of sudden she was cool with Spider-Man 4. Dunst has no staying power and will quickly disappear without another franchise or blockbuster to ride the wave of once again.

If we are talking actual redheads there is Isla Fisher who is sexy and funny, Alicia Witt in that same boat, hell back then they could have even gotten Lindsay Lohan who hadn't gone bat____ crazy and at least if you look at Mean Girls had the look body and somewhat of the talent required for this. If they were looking for dye jobs especially at the time of castin? Rachel Leigh Cook, Jessica Biel, Keira Knightley, the list goes on and all of those were young actresses still starting out in the early 2000s. Honestly as overrated as Scarlett is, seeing her as a redhead in IM2, she could have pulled off the MJ part with her eyes closed. They went with Dunst simply because she was still riding the waves and was considered a draw for the girls as much as the fact it was Spider-Man was for the guys not because she was stellar addition.
