Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

lol I still never got how macy gray go into the movie. i thought that was wierd. She sounded like she was always choking.

I thought she always sounded drunk at the karaoke.

This isn't Nolan's Batman, this is a kid bitten by a spider fighting a lizard man.

Why does he need little canisters if he's been bitten by a spider...

LoL! When was that? first time I've seen this.

Comic Spidey needs them also (except for the symbiote suit). And honestly I prefer it to him going the more realistic (i.e. Nolan) route and growing fingers on either side of his sphincter and shooting webbing out of his butthole. :lol

How did you get the exclusive on Hot Toys Lizard figure?:horror

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

No, I get the Edward Cullen comparison. It's the dumb hair...

The fact that Garfield has spiked brown hair suddenly being a Twilight thing shows how stupid and unfortunately influential that horrid franchise has become given that his hair style existed decades before him and will continue decades past Twilight being a bad joke someone continues to tell.

I think some of the cgi still needs some work, but I think they nailed Spider-Man's movement animations better than Raimi's movie's ever did.

Absolutely. Part of it is advances in CGI but a lot of it I believe is the heavy usage of a stuntman instead of using straight CGI for scenes where the other franchise didn't utilize as much.

How does he stick to walls through the tennis shoes?

He never did. Stan Lee even said that he sticks from his bare skin, so he stuck through his fingertips, in his Spider-Man costume it's supposed to be so thin that it still works. His feet when covered by tennis shoes or his boots simply take hold of his grasp. Think of it like pulling yourself up by a rope, where your upper body does all the work, with your legs following behind minimally, creating balance, etc. Given his super strength, he kind of pulls himself around and his feet go through the motions.

That eventually was thrown out with Peter even in the books sticking to the ceilings by his feet only but according to Lee that should have only been capable barefoot. It's one of those things that you kind of shrug off but it should have never really been occurring.

Spidey's origin can easily be told through the Marvel scrawl during the opening credits. There's no need to retell it again. Most of us can already tell the "untold" part is likely some made-up ____ they threw into the all too familiar "with great power" origin to "legitimize" the Lizard anyway. :monkey1

I don't have a problem with the hard reboot but agree it didn't need to go as far back as it does. I wasn't the hugest fan of Raimi's series, even the first so I don't have a problem with it but I can see where the irritation might be there.

New trailer blew batman's trailer away. Sorry but true.

Agreed. The TDKR trailer left me meh. This one left me excited for it. Partly because TDK was so good and I think this one will pale in comparison and will disappoint the non "Nolanite" who will praise it beyond belief anyway and Spider-Man 3 was so bad and goofy that this looks to legitimize it again.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

It seems this version of Spider-Man may be more agile than Raimi's. There's some pretty cool Spider-Man poses to be found in the trailer.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The new trailer has sealed it as a must watch for me. I like the idea of Conners slowly mutating into the lizard like a painful disease rather than an instant magic trick.

Best summer of movies we've had for a long time.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

isn't that him just transforming? it looked like his clothes are breaking

From the trailer I'd say theres at least 3 action sequences with Lizard, the first seems to be that with the coat, being chased by SWAT down into the sewers, we also then see Spidey going down into the sewer soon after. People think SWAT will shoot him seemingly dead but that he can regenerate himself, since that was what he was studying.

The second appears to be at the school where they are on the ceiling and Gwen is hiding in a locker, as it is daytime there.

And the third seems to be them fighting on top of the building (Oscorp?) where the tower collapses at night.

There is speculation the shadow figure questioning Connors about telling Peter about his parents could be Adrian Toomes or even Norman himself as a nod twoards the sequel already.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm going to bet that the shadowed figure is Norman. I have a feeling that Norman either will be the next villain or that he'll have a hand in the next film to be fully the lead villain in the third.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Wonder who should be cast as Norman Osborn in sequels, i never like Dafoe in the role.

They could go Tommy Lee Jones, as in the comics, but not so sure in that?

Either way i'd like him to be the final villain, build him up slowly like New Goblin, but don't balls it up like in SM3 :lecture

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Tommy Lee Jones is a little long in the tooth right now to play Norman but from what I've seen in the MiB3 trailers, Josh Brolin does an amazing Tommy Lee Jones impression, uncanny and I could see him playing Norman no problem.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I think we'll see Norm sooner rather then later, especially with Gwen front and center.

I know it sounds sick but I can't wait to see that neck snap playout. It'll be interested to see fan reactions to Spidey himself being the one who kills her, even though Goblin's responsible. Providing of course they have the audacity to go that route.

That's actually a great suggestion, I can see him playing it similarly to Planet Terror.

Dafoe was the best part.

And Norman is played by some Indian fellow. So. There you go.
