Don't know if it was posted yet, but Marc Webb recently confirmed TAS with be around 2 hours in length, unlike the previously rumored 1.5 hours.

Saw the preview before Avengers today and paid a bit more attention to it. I'm hoping it's not the case, but it looked like they were implying with the whole untold origin BS that he's "genetically engineered" like Ang Lee's Hulk was.

I kind of get that too. And this is how oblivious I am. I was so busy thinking "oh man that looks awesome, and that shot was crazy" that I didn't even pay much attention to the dialogue. But my wife asked, "are they changing his origin?" Then I thought about what they were saying, and worried that could be the case.
But I'd be surprised if they make a lot of conscious decisions to make movie Spidey closer to the comics, then pull some bull____ like that.

It was the overemphasis on his dad being a scientist/doctor and that shot of the preserved spider in the case among the old research and photos that had me cringing and hoping it's the edit that's making it look like that and not the story. There was one line that really made me think that, but I can't remember it now. But I remember thinking it could either be taken to mean he had it done to him on purpose, or they could just mean that this was the place the accident happened.

First off - the animation and live action, um... action of SM in the new trailer is spot on with the posing and movement. VERY impressed.
Getting very excited to see this one.
Yeah - not sure about the ultimate Spidy origin but I just think they are implying that his father had something to do with the experiment that transformed him.
I will be shocked if they ditch the spider-bite origin.

The trailer looks alright and I'm sure the movie will be good, but right now, the whole prospect of this seems extremely underwhelming after The Avengers. Another solo Spidey film, just with a darker flavor? Amazing.
Still gonna be there at midnight, but something tells me this film would be a bigger hit if it were released before The Avengers.

- One or two films are what everyone hypes on beforehand, they become the favourites, with the most B.O Gross
- One becomes the underdog without much attention that is excellent and gets people talking more, but doesn't make lots of money.
- One becomes the butt of jokes as the terrible one compared to the aforementioned, despite it being an okay film.
I see Amazing Spider-Man being a combination of #2 & #3

Since this movie storyline will continue to involve his parents, I have a feeling Carnage will be a symbiote without a host. It may take on the form of his father later on in the movie series like how it did in Ultimate Spiderman after killing Gwen Stacy.
