Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm glad it's a reboot because I was lukewarm on Spidey 2 and didn't care for 3 at all, so I'm happy to see a fresh take, but I agree they should've just jumped right into it without rehashing the origin, we all know it by now.

A note for future filmmakmers who may tackle either Batman, Superman or Spider-Man. You don't need to tell their origins again, we all know them by heart, even the non-comic audience.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I think the lizard was suppose to be in the second movie .

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm pretty sure Celtic has said before he doesn't care for Spider-Man and he only saw it because his favourite director (Raimi) made them.

So because this isn't Raimi it's automatically bad to him and i think he's here to 'correct' anyone from thinking this could be better than Raimis ones.

People will act the same when the rebooted Batman comes along without Nolan, they'll says its crap because its not Nolan :slap

Yes and no. Yes, I did care about the Spidey flicks because Raimi directed them, but no, I don't have a problem with this movie because Marc Webb is directing it.

I just hate the origin story again. It's pointless. You could STILL just make a Spider-Man movie without it. Even Incredible Hulking it. If you wanted.

But I don't want to sit through 20 minutes of stuff i've seen from a movie that i've already seen.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The thing is we don't know how much time is going to be dedicated to the origin or to him realising his abilities. The one thing Raimi's movies did not tackle in any meaningful way was Peter Parkers genius. It appears from first glance this is going to be put right this time round.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Celtic doesn't like anything good just ignore him.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

As a Spidey fan i'm happy we're getting another film, regardless if it was the familiar cast/characters or a new one.

The origin isn't desirable as i've seen all of the origins in comics, TV and film, which makes me excited to see this new take on the origin happening, i'm going into it without all the answers and wondering how it'll go down.

Peter looks to be more of a modern Comic-like intepretation, he's oddly charismatic, smart and funny than in the original films where he was sterotypical nerdy Peter, but without the attributes to back up the image.

I'm liking the new suit, it's new and modern but retains the key classic elements needed so i'm very happy with what the direction they are going.

Sony's reasons are there own for rebooting it, perhaps they felt that the character had become stale in it's current itteration and felt a new intepretation would liven it up :dunno

(It's not that far fetched considering how many times people have commented on the repetetive conventions of Raimi's Spidey films with every villain findingnout Pete's "secret'" identity, kidnapping MJ and killing themselves somehow)

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

^ They did it for the money man. If they didn't make a movie, the rights would've been lost to Marvel.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I like The Avengers. And Prometheus. And Alien. And Predator.

Same can be said for you. You RE hater. :lol

Lol dude the origin story is different it won't be the same word for word like in the other movies.

Nothing stopped them from carrying on with Raimi and Tobey though, they could've continued but chose to reboot, the had reasons for going that route, reasons we'll never know but reasons that do exist.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

They probably wanted someone else to control. Someone easier.

But who knows. I mean, I wasn't there. So I can't say for sure. :lol

thats the price you have to pay to erase the raimi continuity. for the origin, you can go back to high school, re-do the gwen/MJ/harry/norman/connors/police/public relationships (which looks pretty vital to this film), web shooters and on and on and on.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I hope they do a re-release trilogy with the Raimi flicks on Blu Ray, updated, and in everyone's face. :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm still looking forward to this one, origin story or not. I'm excited to see what Garfield can do for this franchise because he's not going anywhere anytime soon. I'm hoping he delivers and judging by what I've seen so far, he will.

this is exactly right, the first movie he was in high school like, what, 20 minutes?

it seems this movie is going to focus more on how smart he is,
I Always felt the Peter Parker in Raimi's movies is not really a teenager, not only looks wise but everything about him was grown up, i did not for one second believed Tobey's acting as a school kid,

but when i see the new spidey he looks the part a little more,
