Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Not a bad thing at all, but for some reason the combat reeeeeeeeally reminds me of Batman: Arkham.

Sure does, which may not be a bad thing though.

That video review from IGN is complete crap.

Why is he even mentioning Batman in the spidey review? Sounded like he used his grandma's lecture recorder from her college days to record it to. :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Who would've thought Magic Mike would have a better score on Rotten Tomatoes than Spidey :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Just talked to my friend who got to see this, he said it was pretty good and that

Norman is in the credits but it's not a specific actor and it's definately not the indian guy.

figured that nice to know .

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Anyone getting the game? Looks pretty sweet even for a movie tie in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajZ8zWss8xw

This looks exactly like Spiderman 3, so if your gonna give anyone credit it ain't Arkham City, SM3 already had the exact same combat system, the exact same swinging and web rush system, you could melee, grapple, pull people into the air, web them, you could perch or swing off light and telephone polls. Run alongside and up and down buildings or walls. There was still combat with cars and police chases, random crimes. This developer is outta his mind saying this is new, even fighting "Iguana" is identical to SM3's lizard and lizard sewer dwelling army.

I have no idea what everyone is going on about SM3 the game sucked but this looks amazing, they are identicle in every way save the placement of the camera so close, you still had that option in sm3 but you could also pull back out. Some people have zero idea what it is they are talking about. On PC SM3's graphics don't even look any differant then this. Really amazing...

Naked Olivia Munn and Channing Tatum = high ratings.

Steven Soderbergh

It has to do with the director, and he makes some good stuff. I think it's sad society being sad when people value a movie based on rottentomato gauge, and the fact that all super hero movies have to be critically praised beyond everything else. Box office movies are not my favourite movies. It's usually the niche films, independent or not that get my attention for favourite films of the year. But sad society loves its big explosions, special effects, and simple to follow Hollywood story lines. :)

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yea because Steven Soderbergh has a bigger draw then a Spiderman movie.

His Ocean's movies did well, Traffic was good in the 90s. Solaris was crap, most of his recent movies have bombed like Contagion, The Informant and Haywire.

Sorry but your not convincing me this is anything but horny people who want to see Olivia naked and Matthew in a thong. And I didn't make the RT comparison just pointing out what I truely believe is the reason. On Conan, Leno, Kimmel etc all the guests from this movie go on about is thongs this, thongs can betray you that followed by thunderous audience approval. How much they enjoyed stripping, nothing about the movie or how it's about something people have to do or w/e.

Put Mathew and Channing in a real strip club and you will see the longest line of women in history waiting to get in. Like the Million man march for dong.

I am not talking about draw, I am talking about approval rating. In terms of what satisfies a movie snob. Geesh. Just because a movie is great, does not mean it's a box office smash. Look at the Emmerich produced garbage out there. Great box office successes, sorry ass movies that kill brain cells when viewing.

We are talking about a site that takes in all the top critics opinions from across the US in account. Not what is the bigger draw in terms of box office success. Anyone with half a brain knows Spider-Man will draw a bigger crowd to it, based on the pop culture phenomena that is Spider-Man.

And I am also not saying one will be better than the other. I am just giving my perspective (point of view), why one film maybe more of a critical success than the other. Which as of now is a premature discussion since not all the reviews have come in. Which means we can see a significant rise or fall from either/both films from now to opening day.

Just put me in the not surprised group that Magic Mike is receiving good reviews because of its director. Guy makes some good movies.

Anyway, I have discussed the extent of this conversation to its end.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yea but again all of his recent movies have bombed like Contagion, The Informant and Haywire. So where was the box office draw/approval on those the past 6 years? :dunno I don't see how this is any differant a kind of movie then they were, it's certainly not the next Ocean's 11 which outside of Traffic is his only real success.

Do you even read what people post? lol

And stop taking things so defensively. You didn't make any of these movies, and nobody was putting down either film.

I wasn't at least. Again, was just giving my opinion of why one may get more positive reviews than the other. Again, it's subjective, its early, and it may tip in Spider-Man's favour. But in the end, does it matter which film gets a higher percentage on rotten tomatoes?

But yes, like I said before, I am done discussing this. Maybe seeing Spider-Man for free tomorrow. *keeps fingers crossed*

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm not talking about RT, I'm talking about Soderbergh's draw in general like you were, I dont know anyone whos ever said they can't wait to see the new Soderbergh movie. And I'm going based on what I saw personally, his past few movies are crap. :dunno Your saying RT doesn't matter then in the next breath saying check the combined ratings of the critics of his past few movies, which to me is saying your going by the same system your condeming. All I'm saying is Magic Mike isn't rated high because it's some amazing movie with an important generational statement and incredible story, it's because of Matt in a thong.

I'm not taking anything personally, I think its hilarious that sex sells and I know in the long run Spiderman will end up being far more successful regardless of if it sucks or not.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Why do you keep talking about draw? Why do people argue with themselves, because clearly he can't be talking to me, since I never went there.

Namm, please educate this fella. I would, but you seem to get a kick out of enlightening people who don't get it. lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I do get it, your talking about how good his movies are in general. I'm saying that his past movies being good has nothing to do with Magic Mike's success and the women going to see it probably have no idea who he even is. And I'm saying his past 3-4 movies are not good regardless of how they performed in the BO, I'm going by I saw them and they suck. :dunno I'm not the one who brought up MM and RT I simply am saying much like you that ____ doesn't matter and the reason it's higher atm is sex sells, not Soderbergh's track record.

I'm also saying that SM will be nothing more then a good time, not some truely groundbreaking film but it will still surpass MM. I think your the one that needs help reading. Now stfu eli. :lecture

That's a 42 year old spoiler. I think we're past the grace period. And if you think that's something, wait 'til you see what's next! :eek :panic:
