Disagree 100%. Remove the symbiote, Topher and Venom and it's an entirely different movie with a great plot, no emo-parker, and a touching villain. The studio's insistence on Venom is what destroyed that movie.

Atleast for me, one of the film's biggest problems was the pacing. Cramming 3 villains in made it occasionally feel like I was watching a recap of 3 movies edited together rather than a single well paced narrative. If Venom/Symbiote wasn't present the alternative would have been the Vulture. Im not sure replacing Venom with another villian would have fixed things.

Also, Venom may have been forced in, but why wasn't Raimi able to make it work? It is one of the most famous storylines from the comics, and could have made for a great movie. Emo/Dancing Parker, Topher Venom, and all the other mistakes that came from the mishandling of the story all were decisions made by Raimi.

I'm certain Vulture would've been a castaway villain. Venom required serious reworking of the screenplay due to the whole issue of the symbiote and Eddie Brock both of which need to be pre-established for Venom to work. I thought I read somewhere that Venom was a last minute insistence by the studio. If that was the case, I can completely understand why it wasn't better.

heres a couple of things that aggravated me with the movie which were taking me out of the film.

1. the Martin Sheen speech after PP humiliates Flash...it was vomit inducing...in my way of thinking, which isnt correct just my op, how could Uncle Ben be pissed that the kid that physically hurt your nephew was embarrassed by Peter...it isnt like Peter beat him up and hospitalized him.

2. how Peter gets bitten. again i understand that its a comic book movie and im nitpicking but that scence with all of the spiders was stupid, and felt shallow...almost thrown in to show off cgi. and the fact that Gwen is a high school student giving tours at Oscorp...again it took me out of the moment.

3. sorry, but the Dr. Connors bit of turning everyone into a lizard while his own formula is a short lived mutation doesnt add up...its hack writing to me to showcase cgi for the big fight at the end.

4. throwing a football and bending the uprights!?!?!?!? really, come on awful and should have been on the cutting room floor.

5. POV swinging...felt very videogame-esq.

6. arguing with Dennis Leary at the dinner table. the first time anyone meets his girl's parents i dont think ,especially given PP's nature, you'd be starting arguments.

7. the suit was terrible.

things i liked

1. AG wasnt a bad PP or SM.

2. discovering and learning how to use your powers scene was pretty cool.

3. how the suit came to be i, liked the research he was doing on it and it was believable.

4. decent on screen chemistry between Stone and Garfield.

Im gonna have to reluctantly side with ironwez on this one. There is a reason that Venom is one of the most well known stories. And also why the studios insisted he be included in the film. There is no doubt he is a fan favorite. If done right, a Spiderman/Venom film would have been amazing.

But you can't do him right if you shoe horn him into an already established storyline.

Fans wanted Venom. They got him. :lol

Venom can't be done in a single movie though. That's the problem Sony can't get through their heads. He needs to be worked up to in order to have him be the proper villain. In order for that to happen, Brock needs to be established one movie, with potentially the symbiote in the second, and finally Venom in the third which means any hope of a Venom done right wouldn't be until ASM4. With no mention of Brock in this film, it's likely the studio will try to shoehorn him in, yet again, to the dismay of the fans for 2 or 3. At this point, I'd almost prefer to skip Venom and have them work some new origin out for Carnage.

nah your not a spidey fan so theres no use in explaining it to you. He wasnt done right, simple as that.

Hmm. Brock getting a job as a photographer? Check. Symbiote attaching to Peter first? Check. Parker ditching the Symbiote because it made him dark and evil (though in this case emo)? Check. Peter costing Brock his job causing Brock to hate Peter? Check. Ironwez20 having a relevant point? Nope.

Ok then lets go over it again the smart way. Not enough time to develop brock. check. The symbiote not giving peter a dark feel but a dancer feel. Brock not having peters memories. nope. Venom needing sandman to beat spiderman. Nope. Venome having ten minutes of screentime Check. Nam talking ____ without knowing nothing about the character or how he supposed to be portrayed. HMMMMM Check !:cuckoo:

How is you saying you want Venom NOW different from what we already got? I don't think you're really that stupid so I'm guessing you're just being obstinate. :lol

You got Venom. You wanted him in Spider-Man 3.

You didn't say you wanted him done right.[/QUOT. I didnt say raimi put the freaking venom in the movie and kill him off in ten minutes. The studio asked for venom. Why the ____ would someone want a fan fav character in a film and not done right. that is the dumbest thing you've ever said.
