Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Spoiler for the picture:

We’ve seen Emma Stone with her ‘back to blonde’ hair color for her role as love interest Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man. Now, with the film beginning to shoot this week, we’ve got the first images of Ms. Stone on set and in character. The pics aren’t very exciting, but they could be read as a suggestion of the fate of another character in the film. Read our suppositions after the break, or just scroll down to the photo gallery if you want to avoid spoilers.

Reports from set say that the scene puts Gwen Stacy at a funeral, which is pretty evident from the pics. Given that you can also see a great many cops around her, there’s a good chance that she’s attending a funeral for her father, police captain George Stacy, who is played by Denis Leary. In the classic comics continuity, Captain Stacy learned Peter Parker’s Spider-Man secret, but was killed by Doctor Octopus. As he died, he implored Peter/Spidey to take care of his daughter.

We don’t know specifics about the scene being shot, but the circumstantial photo evidence suggests that we’ll see a similar fate for Captain Stacy (probably not at the hands of Doctor Octopus) in Marc Webb‘s film. Leave your thoughts (including arguments for a different take on the pics) in the comments.

Ok, this reboot is really growing on me! Now I just need to avoid anymore spoilers lol.

Yeah, my first thought was that the funeral was for her father....
I want to see the Spidey costume already!

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Ditto. Although I'm a little less worried now that I've seen the pic and know they are at least paying attention to continuity.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I've heard great things about the script and, personally, I love the casting. So the outfit is certainly my only worry at this point.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I'm trying not to get too excited either way. Spider-Man is my favorite and I can still remember how excited I was for the Rami version years ago when I watched it no less than five times opening weekend. Years later I have a hard time revisiting them for one reason or another so I really hope that the reboot will surprise me and provide a true cinematic Spider-Man experience that I've wanted my whole life.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Well if you saw the first 5 times opening weekend I would imagine you were provided with the "true cinematic Spider-Man" you always wanted.

I know what you mean though, watching it again. It's slow or something. It didn't feel that way when I saw it the first 100 times but there's just something strange about it. Not that it's bad or awful, just isn't what it used to be. It was a good time. 2001/2002, that first picture we got of the costume. The teaser, the whole post 9/11 thing playing on the mystique of the movie. I can still get into it.

Tastes change, who knows how we'll feel years from now.

I'll give this one a chance even though I was previously against the whole idea of a reboot. It's not like it can take anything away from the first two, only add to Spider-Man's cinematic history.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

It's not that I haven't seen them all multiple times and that I don't own them all on BRD and all that kinda stuff it's just that they don't seem to hold the spirit of Spider-Man all these years later. There's just something missing. I can't put my finger on it but there's something that's slightly off. Pacing is slow, too much Peter Parker, Aunt May, Mary Jane and the stupid heart to heart conversations between them. Not enough Spider-Man. Jumpy special effects scenes that can hardly be made out at times. Too much of Spidey taking his mask off, or having it half torn to force yet another screen shot of Tobey's face. Tobey McGuire doesn't sell the film, Spider-Man does, so give us more Spider-Man!

to me the genius of spiderman wasnt in the movie's the guy created web-shooters he always out thinks his enemy he hardly gets unmasked
there was so much missing from those movies

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I hated the organic web-shooters for dozens of reasons posted on this thread and in the boards themselves. What I hated though most was that in Spider-Man 2 he was unmasked passed through an entire subway car and we were supposed to believe no one would have taken a picture or described his look to the press or even police or even JJJ? That they wouldn't have seen him somewhere and said "Hey That's Spider-Man!"

Spidey always guarded his alter-ego even going as far as wearing a bag over his head when his costume was compromised, it was stupid and illogical.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

im suprised there hasnt been any concept art from fans on how they would like the new Spidey to look. I'm sure a lot will be taken from the Raimi Spidey costume cause that was pretty dead on to what it should look like. I hope we get to see some different costumes than just red/blue or black in these new films.

"We won't tell nobody."

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

She makes a pretty good Gwen Stacey and I'm pretty sure I know whatt hat scene is all about. I'm really excited to see how this turns out.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Secret: The Spider-Man movies took place in a make-believe New York. Don't tell nobody.

i hated that too, but more face time on camera = more $$$ for tobey (who took up half the movie simply staring in the camera :monkey4)

That scene, and the Bridge scene with people throwing garbage at Goblin were both a result of 911. Showing "brother-hood" and how New yorkers/Americans stand up for one another. In fact I believe the line "you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us" was in the first movie.

Still, I 100% agree that both of those scenes were illogical and rediculous!

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Sources tells SuperHeroHype that young actor Miles Elliot (photo below) has been cast as Billy Connors in Columbia Pictures' Spider-Man movie, currently filming in Los Angeles. Newcomer Elliot had a small part in "Grey's Anatomy" last month.

Billy is of course the son of Martha and Curt Connors (aka The Lizard), to be played by Rhys Ifans.

Also starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse and Chris Zylka, the Marc Webb-directed action adventure will hit 3D and 2D theaters on July 3, 2012.
