Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Scorpion doesn't sound like he'd be an interesting movie villain. Not a central one anyway.

But if I'm wrong about that, I'm sure The Mike could open my eyes.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Scorpion is a tough sell. Not impossible but tough. The character originally was a private investigator hired by J. Jonah Jameson to find out how Peter Parker gets his shots of Spidey. There is how you introduce. Considering that Jameson then hired him to be part of the experiments that made him the Scorpion and early on he defeated Spidey twice, it'd be good fodder for a young and budding Spider-Man like the film is trying to show. Not to mention that the treatments drove him insane and he turns on JJJ only to leave him to be saved by Spidey and he disappears, it'd made a perfect story for a sequel. You'd have to stick to a lot of the Silver Age stuff though....

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Scorpion would be interesting. They could always do a few character changes in order to make him a better villain. Very few of Spidey's villains really truly seem to post a big danger; most of them seem like relatively petty criminals with super powers.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Since they have been filming for two weeks now, when do you think we will get a leak photo of the new Spiderman suit?

I was suprised they went with Jack Black, but after that spoof he did I guess they finally realized he had the acting chops. Even more so I was suprised they went with the symbiote storyline, again.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

From Superbad to Zombieland and Easy A, Emma Stone‘s big screen presence has been as a redhead. So when she dyed her hair blonde for her role as love interest Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb‘s Spider-Man reboot, it was news. Now, the latest in Emma Stone hair news is that she’s going to have to stay blonde for a while as she’s apparently signed on for “a few” sequels. And the first Spidey film, scheduled for release on July 3 2012, is currently shooting in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Times dropped a bunch of information both on shooting locations for the film as well as its budget. Read more about all of the Spidey news after the jump.
Stone dropped the news of her being contracted for “a few” films in an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Here’s what she said when asked about how long she’s going to keep the blonde hair.

There’s a few Spidermen, so I may have to keep it for a couple of years.

She also told a story about training for the film, but not including her co-star, Andrew Garfield.

The other day, after work, I was supposed to work out with our trainer and Andrew said ‘Would it be ok if I worked out with you guys?’ I was like ‘No, that would not be ok’. He said ‘Why? It’ll be a bonding experience’. I said ‘Because you can lift a car and I am a weakling beyond belief’. We’re on two completely different ends of the spectrum.

Thanks to Monsters and Critics for the heads up on the interview.

In more Spider-Man news, the Los Angeles Times did an article about how the film, as well as Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo, are finally bringing major Hollywood filmmaking back to Los Angeles. In the article, they mention that Spider-Man is currently taking up seven stages on the Sony Pictures lot alone and employing well over 1,000 people. However, it’s going to be shooting on location too. Here’s what they had to say.

Sony began its 90-day film shoot for “Spider-Man” two weeks ago, mainly on the lot but also on location, including at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood and Immanuel Presbyterian Church in mid-Wilshire.

Scheduled for release in 2012, “Spider Man 4″ has an entirely new cast (British actor Andrew Garfield replaces Tobey Maguire) and is being directed by Marc Webb at less than half the budget of the previous Spider-Man film, which cost more than $250 million to make.

Although the production will include two weeks in New York (where the story is set), the bulk of filming will occur in Los Angeles on the Sony lot and various locations around town, from South Pasadena to San Pedro to Woodland Hills.

So to recap, the film is going to cost roughly $125 million, is set in New York, but will shoot all over Los Angeles and Emma Stone is signed for more than one film, which is weird because her character dies in the original comics, right? And what happened to the idea of shooting this incarnation of Spider-Man in the $80m range?

Interesting little tidbits in there....

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Then the Dark Knight is Batman 6? Its a reboot its Spiderman 1. The article writer is just not a fan and doesn't know better.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I think it is just easier to call it Spider-Man 4. The last two Bond movies were known as Bond 21 and Bond 22 (or whatever number they were) before being given a title. What would you have called it if you wrote the article?

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Just "Spiderman". Its not like people are going to get confused and think they are re-releasing the original after they just read an entire article about them filming this.
