Well he was definitely overshadowed by Ledger but still did a good job playing the character and looking the part. Far as I'm concerned the only guy to play both Bruce and Batman up to and even above expectations.

being angry and moody like batman is. that's textbook goth
it’s my favorite set of batman films too. he’s a great batman but his bruce was pretty boring and tame. nothing too special there. i really like keaton’s wayne persona though.

IKR? Lol. Am a huge TDK trilogy fan too, so Fatleck wasn’t my favourite but I wasn’t on here beating a drum over his bennifer Gigli days.

I get a strong Dave McKean vibe from this. A little too messy for my liking, but not awful.
Still not had a knockout poster for this movie yet. I have high hopes for something from Bottleneck Gallery, Mondo, or Vice Press.

Sorry to disappoint you buddy but Bale is a fan of wearing eye makeup to.
When wearing the cowl yes, otherwise it wouldn't look right. He didn't do this though...

Bale's movies pretend that it's not makeup - because when he takes off his cowl it's not there. We know that it is makeup because it can't be anything else but the movies want us to believe it's part of the cowl - or preferably not to think about it all.
This is the first time a live action Batman has acknowledged that it has to be makeup. Wor will be laughing - ''and yet they still want us to believe that someone can actually fight criminals while wearing a cape and somehow not get shot in the face while taking full clips of automatic weapons fire head-on from multiple combatants''

I genuinely can't tell if TurdFurgusonsHat is just trolling anymore.
Every Batman movie, from 1989 onwards, had had the actor wear black eye make-up in order to make the transition from cowl to the actors eyes seamless. Without it, there would be lots of visible skin around the eyes, which arguably lessens the illusion that Bruce Wayne is trying to create.
You can clearly see the make up in every single movie, they have just never consciously acknowledged it as being there as part of the costume. Whenever an actor removes the cowl in a scene, the eye make up is magically gone. The above image is a good example because there is an obvious cut in the scene where they cut to Selina's face just before Batman removes the cowl and his eye make up is gone (right).
Just because it's not been acknowledged before doesn't make it any less real or a fact, nor does the fact that it is now being acknowledged mean that this portrayal of the character is inferior because of such a non issue. I actually quite like the fact that they are showing the eye make-up on his face after Pattinson removes the cowl in character, it's another layer of his transformation from the Batman back to Bruce Wayne (I've always been a believer that it is the Batman who becomes Bruce Wayne, rather than the other way around). However, if they didn't acknowledge it, I wouldn't care, because it's not been done before.
I'm all for discussion and critique when it's genuine or built on valid reasons, but baseless criticism or complaints based on thin foundations is tiresome.
Pattinson DID work out for the role, it is evidently clear. He was joking/exaggerating his comments in that interview and just not completely killing his body for a role in a film that, at the time of the interview, was on hold and didn't even have a date to resume filming yet. But it is explicitly clear that, once things resumed, he did work out. This is not a physique you acquire from sitting on your arse all day.
He's physically bigger than Michael Keaton was for Batman and Batman Returns, and, I think, bigger than Christian Bale was for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
Yes, Pattinson was in Twilight, but he was in his early 20s, and has since admitted to hating working on those movies. He has had some excellent performances in great movies since then.
Michael Keaton was Mr Mom and Beetlejuice before Batman, Kilmer was in Top Secret! and Real Genius before Batman, Bale was in Velvet Goldmine before Batman, etc etc, it didn't lessen any of their credentials to portray the Batman.
