He's able to portray so many actions and expressions with just his eyes. Top acting under the cowl. :clap
This is what really amazed me. But it seems after being tortured about his Twilight run, that RP can really act.

I watched The Lighthouse this weekend. and although its one of those films thats pumped with atmosphere and crazy mystery scenes that really do not amount to much beyond personal interpretation, the acting is stellar. Bothe Defoe and RP give crazy performaces that elicit the best of the stage while in a film.

Its hard to imagine that RP could be holding his own against someone like Defoe, but he does for most scenes. With very little dialogue its plain to see what RP can do with just his expressions…..so after my viewing I understood how he was able to pull off so much under that cowl.

Whilst I can't say I fully enjoyed The Lighthouse, I will say that the acting was brilliant from both of them.

I'm not much of a Batman fan but I thought this movie was decent, though I'm amazed at how thuddingly serious (and lonnnnnng) Batman movies always have to be these days....
I agree with pretty much all of that, but somehow I still reckon it's the best Batman movie yet. Maybe because my expectations were low from the start. I was never a fan of Burton's films and thought Begins + 33 minutes of TDK were the only Nolan instalments worth watching.

Paul Dano to write Riddler: Year One.

This will surely be

RE RPat: I assume everyone here has seen Good Time, which was his best and most well-known solo showing before The Lighthouse. Beyond that, I'd check out Cosmopolis for sure. The Devil All The Time, The Lost City Of Z and The Childhood Of A Leader feature him in smaller roles. If movies about awkward autists are your thing, there's also How To Be, although it's hard to even find that anywhere. High Life, Life, Water For Elephants and Maps To The Stars were pretty good too, and I really liked The King. Although the latter is more of a Chalamet vehicle, it was a really good and atmospheric film in general, and worth watching regardless. I had high hopes for 2018's Damsel, as it looked like a sweet flick, but it really disappointed me. Then there's Waiting For The Barbarians, but it's one of those films that you'll either get into or close a few minutes in. Depp's good in it too, but it's got a muddled message.

But really, we knew he could act ever since The Rover with Guy Pearce.

From the press release: "For many film and comic book fans, Paul Dano's portrayal of The Riddler in Matt Reeves' The Batman (in theatres now) was arguably one of the most chilling and terrifying incarnations ever seen in a Batman film."

Since there have only been two, I guess "arguably one of" is correct!

I don’t know man I mean I thought Jim Carrey as Riddler was pretty damn horrific when I saw it opening night lol

Eh, for Paul Dano Riddler was just another Incel outing in creepy-geek glasses and duct tape - with handsome leads screaming right up in his face. :lol

Dano is taller than Gylenhaal by quite a bit, but alas, that's not helping him there... Besides, we all know which role was Dano's finest villain performance.

I do wonder how they'll deal with him in the sequel. I doubt that scene at Arkham was there just because. Maybe they'll go over that in the rumoured Arkham show.
