Just got finished watching GOTG on my new 3D TV, can't believe how incredible it looks! Really is better than theater 3D, and wasn't even shot using 3D cameras. The technology must have improved since the 3D TV's first came out, because this really exceeded my expectations.

Now if I can just get those black levels at a better level.

Really will be a shame if 3D video goes away.

Yeah, adjusting black level is often overlooked but it's highly dependent on the quality of your HDTV/projector.
Too high and the blacks start looking gray. Too low and you get black crush, which is when you lose details in dark objects or scenes.

See! Incredible, right? This is why I love home 3D.

Zavvi has the 3D rogue 1 up for pre-order

WHAT!!!???

Been up since at least 12/14. I told you guys about it!

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/...pcoming-news-info-thread-878.html#post9017609

Includes 3D and 2D in a steel book, and is region free. So unless you're okay with double-dipping, order from Zavvi instead.

Also, a tip for anyone new to Zavvi, it's actually cheaper if you order an item in pounds/euros and let your transaction covert to dollars than to order in U.S. dollars to begin with. Dunno why, but I'll take it. :dunno

EDIT: Here's the purchase link:

That's too good to be true. Hope you're right, but history says no. :(

I wouldn't have thought that either except that Zavvi is taking preorders for the 3D Rogue One now...

Maybe since the movie made half what TFA made they figure they can't milk it the same way -- 2D first and 3D six months later. Or perhaps 3D sales for TFA are just so bad they figure release it all at once now.

I'm thinking the 3D sales for TFA were below expectations. They should have struck while the iron was hot. It's got nice packaging though.

Could be. We'll find out in April. Geez that sounds like a long time.

I can see how low 3D sales on the second TFA release could have backfired on Disney. Instead of getting everybody to spend $29.99 on a combo right from the get go (with no other option) they gave everyone the opportunity to spend $19.99 on the 2D and then ignore the pricier upgrade. They got too greedy in assuming everyone would buy both.

Maybe it's a complex play to ensure fans will also buy the 4k version. :). But seriously I'm sure that's a long term seller in Disneys eyes though.

Theyre going to have to do something for the 40th anniversary surely !! I still think they'll also release an unedited version now that Lucas no longer at the helm. As so many fans appear to want it. I guess if theyre going through it with a fine tooth comb for a 4k upgrade, editing out modified scenes should be easy.

Great news via TV Shows on DVD: Speed Racer *and* its progenitor Mach GoGoGo are coming to Blu-ray!

This follows other classic shows such as Twilight Zone, Star Trek: TOS, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek Animated, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, The Incredible Hulk, The A-Team, Knight Rider, Miami Vice and SeaQuest getting the HD treatment.

Still holding out for the likes of The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, Happy Days, Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch (I know, I can dream!)

Hi guys. A question regarding the new star wars steelbook set. Is the bluray for all region? In amazon.com and amazon.uk they stated all region. But for individual purchases, it didnt stated the region in the desription.

I don't think I'm going to get those. I have the ultimate editions and I don't want to pay out for them again.

It took every ounce of my will power, but I returned the steel book set.

Must...resist...4K versions...
