Boba Fett the character YES, Morrison a resounding NO! As I've said since Day 1, he's not lead actor material and he's done nothing in this series to demonstrate otherwise. Being a nice guy doesn't make one "deserving". Timothy Olyphant did more acting in a few minutes in this episode than TM did in the first 4 episodes combined. If he'd never taken the bucket off his head he might have scraped by, but once he took it off all hope was lost.
Yeah but Morrison did pretty good in Mando IMO. Olyphant's got charisma.
I still blame bad writing, lack of vision, poor editing/directing and a rushed production. Plus, yah know, budget sets. :cautious:

But if Ben Solo and ST elements are going to ruin your enjoyment, I think you might want to stop watching right now. I say that with all sincerity of caution because I see it now as highly likely that a bridge to the ST is being built here. Luke gave Grogu a choice between continued attachment/family and a higher selfless calling. I don't think the contrast with Ben Solo's eventual choice and circumstances is merely coincidental.

My guess is that Luke would gladly watch Grogu choose family (Din) instead of the Jedi life, and might end up doing exactly that. Luke understands the demands and sacrifices of a Jedi path, and that no student should continue down that road if their heart is conflicted. That's going to be why Luke was so hard on himself and despondent after Ben Solo became Kylo Ren. He says as much in TLJ when telling Rey about his hubris and believing he could succeed where his mentors failed. He likely blames himself for keeping Ben with him and not acknowledging how much it would potentially mess with Ben to feel neglected by his parents and bitter toward Luke for playing a role in that.

:gah::thud:

And I know that this is technically a Boba Fett show, and people are upset that he's getting upstaged, but the story of Din and Grogu (along with Luke's role in that) will probably be a big factor in Boba Fett's future as well. I think that's why we're getting these episodes which seem like either The Mandalorian Season 3 or Luke's Jedi Academy Season 1 in BoBF. The relevance of Din/Grogu/Luke to Boba Fett's ultimate destiny is going to be clear at some point, and they're building the foundation for it (appropriately) in Boba's show.
Then there's 2 things that need making clear - how Grogu & Luke will tie in to Boba Fett's story and who the hell this 'ruthless killer' is that Cad Bane mentioned. I thought he said Boba Fett but I must have misheard.

Does Luke know about Mandalorian armor? Why would he think Grogu can’t be a Jedi if he wears Mandalorian armor?

Pfft Luke will arrive with Grogu on Tatooine to join in the end battle, probably Ahsoka too, because light sabers being waved around look cool.

I just feel bad that the Grogu/Din D'jarin reunion, which should have everyone bawling, is gonna be tromped through without any weight whatsoever, making all the tears from the Mando S2 finale pointless. Probably have Grogu wanting a candy color speeder.:pow

Melange a trois: a lady mechanic, two Jawas and a pile of drugs?

OR... the Jawas ran a maglev on that mechanic lady!

This times 1000. People get offended when Morrison gets criticism because they either blindly love him in the PT or because he appears to be a nice guy. But his acting is poor, he doesn't look like Boba Fett, and he should be playing the character not forcing "himself" into the character. I can't blame him for the writing but he is still at least 50 percent responsible for this show totally sucking. Call it what it is.

Meanwhile with just a few slick lines of gunslinger diologue Olyphant already has me wanting to see lots more of Cobb Vanth. His posture is even somewhat reminiscent of Bulloch. I wish we could get in the "way back" machine and cast Olyphant as the cold blooded bounty hunter Boba Fett, he is damn near perfect for the part.

Boba Fett is not lead character material, the only way Boba works is as a secondary character - The Mandalorian shows him acting how Boba Fett should because he isn't the main character that has to be "sympathetic" and "relatable".

I have to wonder why they've pretty much written Boba out of his own show. Was this the plan from the start or did they deviate massively from their original plan for the character when Din and Grogu (and now Luke) became such a hit.

Luke directly defied Yoda and went to save his friends on Bespin, so probably not.
Ah yes…I guess Luke understands now there needs to be a choice. But Yoda was a little more understanding that he knew Luke has friends. Didn’t look like he forbid Luke from going to them

Not true at all, if they portrayed him correctly. He needs to be a loner type character doing his own thing, only caring about his own interests, going place to place. Lucasfilm just wants all these characters connected to each other, that is what doesn't work for Fett.
