Boba on Mandalorian

BOBF

The condemnation of Rodriguez' action and direction here is hysterical, as the action in that scene ^ which were lightly scripted and we know Rodriguez not only Directed but added the action. That everyone uses to showcase and celebrates as the great showing for Boba Fett.
Was all Rodriguez.
"The script was much shorter than the episode. The script was, like, 19 pages so that suggests 19 minutes," Rodriguez recently confirmed to Collider. "I added a lot of action to this [episode]. I even asked [series creator] Jon [Favreau], I said, 'Is it okay that my script is only 19 pages? Because I cut really fast and it's probably going to end up being 16 minutes. Do we need to add more pages?' and he goes, 'No, that's what you're here for! You need to fill that out.' I said, 'Oh, okay, I'll try and make that battle longer.' So that's where that extra battle came from."

Rodriguez added, "I know my tendency is to cut things pretty tight. If I have a 100-page script, it's a 90-minute movie. So I had a 19-page script [and] I thought, 'Whoa! I'm gonna run out of things to do, so I added a lot of action."
Yet, then turn around and out of the other side of their faces blame him for the character portrayal and overwrought scripted material throughout BoBF. :lol
A Script which has it's fingerprint everywhere.

Except the one action scene he added extended and directed, and you all celebrate.

I rewatched it the other night and still love it. The pacing holds up really well today even if some of the CGI is little bit iffy now.

Also, while not on-topic even for this off-topic discussion I still think Kirsten Dunst was hot in these films. She gets flack for the occasional not-so hot picture or for how she looks now at 40+ but back then with the flame red hair? Yes please.
I always found her to be cute versus beautiful and I don't mean that in a negative way. There are plenty of girls who are cute that I find way more attractive than the traditional "beauty". Plus, when she says "Go get 'em, Tiger"...varoom!

I never found her that hot at the time. She looks much better now than she did back then IMO. The early 2000s were the last time where hot redheads (most were dyejobs and cartoons/games/comics, but you get the point) were in the limelight, but Dunst didn't fit that red hair at all. She couldn't rock it like, say, Kidman did in Moulin Rouge:

It's funny, Raimi cast the blonde as the redhead, and later cast the redhead BDH as the blonde Gwen Stacy. They should've gone with someone like (the naturally redhead) Lohan for MJ anyhow:

For me, it was all about Jean in regards to CBM redheads.

Huh, guess that's why I liked default Femshep...

Anyway, I still have a soft spot for the FoX-Men. It's the franchise that really captured the Y2K feel and the one I'm most nostalgic for out of all the CBMs of the time. It was the first one, it came out literally at the turn of the millenium, it influenced Morrison's run & Ultimate X-Men, and really, it changed the course of both cinema and comics. The busy black leather transports me to the days of WildStorm, Ultimate and Y2K Marvel in a way Raimi-Man just can't, so there's more of my heart in them. Raimi-Man is something I'm nostalgic about, but in the same vein as, say, Pokemon, whereas FoX-Men is MGS. You get the point.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Dick move from Luke and his Jedi ways.
Except they are not "his" ways.
Not allowing Grogu a connection to both, is a complete betrayal of everything Luke learned, experienced, and was.
Luke never followed Jedi (books) or dogma, to the contrary, he denied them, knowingly went against the older Jedis ways and will, to follow his own path, instinct and choices. Rushed to save his friends, refused to give up on his father.
In doing so, following his instinct, keeping his personal attachments to those friends, his sister, and his father, those he loved, he saved not just his father, the galaxy, he brought about the return of the Jedi his way.
Those instincts, define Luke.

This (and the Sequel Trilogy) Disney version is a different character, the antithesis of Luke and "his" way.

My prediction for the finale:

Fett discovers that the Pykes (who were the only ones to have a grudge against the Tuskens) hired a cleanup crew to wipe out that tribe in the form of Cad Bane and the original ESB Bounty Hunters. They all converge in a final showdown with Din Djarin and possibly Cobb all taking turns dueling with the big name bounty hunters with Fett going mano a mano against Bane. Bossk and the Wookiee square off (hopefully Bossk wins but I'm sure he'll just be another derpy Trandoshan like the others.) Maybe they'll say that Aurra Sing "somehow" survived being pushed by Beckett so that Fennec will have another chick to go head to head with. Or possibly Asajj since IIRC she also became a bounty hunter by the end of the Clone Wars.

I've got to believe the Rancor will be involved which could indicate a siege on the Palace though I'd prefer to see all hell breaking loose in the city instead. Drash and her buddies will probably recruit a massive group of fellow mods to battle the Pyke footsoldiers. Tusken warrior and the kid will be revealed to have fled Cad Bane's rampage into the desert and will make an appearance as well (possibly with a bunch of other Tuskens as reinforcements.)

When the smoke finally clears at the end a New Republic dropship will land with a bunch of troops (possible CG Han or Lando cameo or *gasp* maybe even Cara Dune) only to discover that Fett has everything under control.

And of course now that I typed that out it'll probably be a two minute battle with none of those elements I predicted, lol.
I love that so much of what I predicted a few weeks back came true! :rock

I guess Luke's appearance the prior episode replaced the Han/Lando cameo and Mechanic Lady and Grogu joining the battle took the place of Tusken Lady and Child.

Roughly 17 hours after watching the finale and I'm still smiling about it, lol.

I'm surprised that so many seem to be so disgusted with the fact that the final episode didn't somehow right the ship and reconcile this version of Fett with his OT Bulloch/Wingreen self when Episodes 3 and 4 showed that that was *never* gonna happen.

But as a culmination of AOTC/TCW/OT:SE Fett? Best. And most Zaniest. Finale. EVER. :lol

I was so ready to write off this show when it appeared that the final standoff would just be him and Mando standing outside the ruined Cantina. But as soon as he flew away all I could keep repeating in my mind was "go get the Rancor, go get the Rancor," lol. HOW did he bring it back from the Palace to the center of town so quickly? Nobody knows. :lol All that matters is that he DID bring it back and oh what spectacular craziness was cut loose when he did.

This was just so much freaking fun. One moment it's Desperado, the next it's King Kong vs. Godzilla, then it's full on Robot Chicken, then back to Desperado...freaking perfection, lol. Okay not total perfection because I would have preferred that the Mods stayed on their goofy Vespas for longer than they did, lol.

I remember being so disappointed that the Wookiee was introduced as this awesome potentially OT quality threat and that that would give Fett a real opportunity to shine by taking out a ruthless version of his former self only to have the goofy bacta fight and giving him a job deal. But they still came around and fulfilled what I was hoping for with Cad Bane, an even *better* "ruthless version of Fett's former self" than the Wookiee ever could have been.

And I did want Bane to hang around but as others voiced I'd rather have him die now as a villain than live long enough to become the hero. And his death was at least cooler than ROTJ Fett's and TPM Maul's and I'm SO glad that Fennec was MIA for the grand city free-for-all.

Debra Chow would be wise to not hype up her show that much, lol.
It probably won’t need hyping up so much as it’ll wipe the floor with anything Rodriguez is capable of.

I hand on heart believe that RR thought his episodes were that good. It reminds me of Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi and how he thought he’d made a masterpiece. Some directors are so far stuck up their own backsides that they’re incapable of seeing any flaws in their own work. That, as well as laziness, probably explains why every line of dialogue and every action scene he directed looked like it was one take only.

Rodriguez is a run and gun director. His films are always made quickly with little resources except for his most recent ones.

The guy donated blood and maxed out credit cards to finance El Mariachi. That kind of perspective doesn't mean he can direct Star Wars.

Favreau needs to be more selective and not just hire his mates. It's Star Wars not a film student final year project.

OK, How did you get your hands on Jye's Oxy and how much of it have you taken????

This.

This show will fade, but these figures will continue to represent one of my fav characters regardless. I dont have a problem separating them from this show, or recent activities.
Ditto on this. It's not like I'm going to display BoBF Boba tripping on a rock or standing around with his helmet off. The character aesthetic is still cool and will look great on my shelf. I mean, I've got four life size Fetts, and an entire corner dedicated to Fett and Mando so I'm pretty committed to the character in general. Didn't love the show and thought they did some really stupid things with Fett but it didn't ruin my love for the character. People canceling Jango because of BoBF...I find that a curious perspective.

One thing’s for sure, the next time he’s on screen they won’t dare not make him badass. One thing Favreau does do is take on board criticism and fan feedback.

A big part of me wonders if Favreau was made to use the leftover scripts from the failed Josh Trank Boba film and somehow had to marry it together with The Mandalorian story. That would explain the bizarre clunkiness and lack of cohesion in the show.

My son yesterday: "HOW is that giant droid still behind them they've speeding so fast through the entire city and it's just walking??" And even better because my 75 year old dad was visiting from out of state and even he was cracking up at the craziness. Three generations of Khevs enjoying the greatest episode in the history of SW. :yess:

Fixed. :lol

But yes, I mentioned earlier that I thought someone must have told RR that this was a comedy. Which then would make his "all killer, no filler" boast accurate, but only because it's unintentionally so ridiculous due to the poor direction/execution.

I was going to order the 2 pack, but I don’t know if I need it. If this is all leading to the farce awakens, then I’m good with my one ot figure a year. It’s funny how my friend at work who collects, loved the show and I hated it. Just different opinions. As far as figures, I would only want a clone wars cad bane. I hope they make black chrysanthemum, only because it might also allow them to do esb Chewbacca at the same time. Fennec reminds me of my wife, always correcting and judging. I’m going to go look at pics of baze, the Death Star trooper, and general kenobi and cry.
Great point about these Disney series leading up to TFA fantasticfrog. I am guessing that when we saw Grogu arrive in the X-Wing, many of us knew Ben would actually be Luke's first student in the school, thereby solidifying Disney's trilogy story arc. For me personally, I do not like any of the sequel trilogy storyline, but I did like some of the characters that happened to be mishandled. I know where you are coming from, in the sense that if you get any of these figures, it just reminds you of the bad script and character development that was the Disney triolgy.....at least for me.

Hey, I feel you on Baze, the Death Star trooper, and General Kenobi.(y)

This.

Man, my hat off to you Ramatuelle👊, as I can not do it. My Boba will always be the ESB version, and I am alright with it. His story arc started to decline for me in the AOTC movie when they revealed him to be a clone of Jango. It picked up a bit when he was in the Clone Wars animated series and then when he appeared in the second season of Mando I said, "Alright, I can deal with this." After having his own series, nope.
