Ah the "completionist" problem. Yes, a villain I know all too well. Maybe do a ranking of possessions then find a cut off point. I eventually got to a great point where 1/6th is left, some art prints, 2 busts and a small stack of comics. Plenty of excuses to find, so focus on the reason. Now my focus is Hot Toys. 3rd party doesn't even interest me at this point.

I threw out a couple of comics, mostly series left unfinished. Everything else is in boxes, floppies wise. And I'm currently buying my favourite runs in Omnis. I sometimes fear the same completionism coming over me and buying runs I do not care for simply to have all the Omnis of a character/team I like, but thus far I've managed to not fall into it. Busts & Statues I have not involved myself with, and I doubt I will anytime soon. Basically I'm done with collecting the videogames, and now it's onto finishing the comics, which will obviously take much more time, likely as much as the 1/6th collection. Oh, and the BluRays/4Ks/whatever. Smaller collection there, I'm not as invested in the physicality of them; I'm fine with storing them in my HDs. Only a few I need to have on a shelf.

I have laid out a plan for the next couple of years on what I MIGHT get:
Revealed figures: VG Classic SM, Luke Snowspeeder, Batman XE, Mando Shiny, Mando Luke, Carnage
2022 slate: Morbius, Battinson w Batcycle, Defender Strange, Moon Knight
2023: Kang (if he has blue shield over face), Blade, F4, Kraven (if he is close to comic look)

Our tastes prove similar as this list resembles mine; however I find myself stretching it more and more with every glance I give it. I am torn between the characters themselves and the displays that can be created with them as players upon the stage. That leads to secondaries, nostalgia urges towards forgotten names and by the end I've tripled what I begun with. There are locks, of course (assuming proper translation from page to screen, always). Doom, the FF, Kang, Xavier & Magneto, a Tobey-Man for nostalgia's sake, and so on. The problem arises when I have enough ingredients for a scene, so I feel tempted to complete it. That gives way to more and more excuses and ends up blowing everything out of proportion.

Things can always change, but there is so many properties I could care less about. I can't give into look cool figures, got to stick to the epic figures I have no doubt on and thankfully there is a handful at most in one year. Seems like lately it has slowed down a bit with more content that is crap.

Ah, that was always a problem of mine. I never had that singular obsession with one or two things or so. I moved from one to another, spending more or less equal attention on them all, resulting in this need to cover them through the dolls I buy. I do not feel the need to get a Predator or a any of that sort. But with all the myriad of things I've tangled with, and with the frequency with which they're hitting, it is quite a maddening sight. In a way I have a certain type of character that I am "attracted" to. Thus I cannot easily differentiate between the levels of my affinity concerning each one of them, as they share the same basic characteristics.

Then find joy in selling your stuff on Ebay to other people. Then when what fat you needed to cut off, you will not even think about it again.
Get comixology or pirate pdfs of comics online. Save you a ton ton of space.

I have digital copies fo all such things. TBs upon TBs. I still follow some and update my myriads of files. The physical must exist for me as well, otherwise there is no point.

Why have 20 variations of multiple characters? Empty that up.

The problem in me arises when I have Moon Knight, Punisher and Ghost Rider in my list, which tempts towards a Morbius. At that point a Blade and an Elsa cannot help but follow. In a sense, Strange begat Fate who begat Loki who begat Scarlet Witch. And if one wishes to display both them together, and Strange alongside the Illuminati, then two Stranges are needed. Suppose I skipped Ock & Goblin. Then Spider-Man would be on his own and that wouldn't do. I could display him with an Iron Man, then I'd of course need a second one for the Illuminati. That'd be easy if a Cruise Stark were to be real and get made into a figure; he'd be a Day 1 PO from me. But if not then I am at an impasse. I cannot have a single Spider-Man while Batman gets two or three villains, and three or so different versions of himself.

BigChiefStuido's DW 4-Pack would cost me around 2K€. 10 & 11 I have already, but these new versions are of a higher quality. Even in the off-chance I opted for it, it'd destroy the chance of any other figure. I can juggle 20+20+20+... in installments over the course of a year+ as each figure is put up. But 150/month for 9 months and then ~400 on taxes alone is too much too soon. But even if we entertained that scenario, that'd all be it. Bye-bye Strange, bye-bye Tobey-Man, bye-bye everyone. Passing on that allows me to go for an Ock and a Goblin, amongst others. But at the same time there's so many potential figures to be amde from properties I know I am interested in. It's however useless to ponder this, as the rumours might not come true, and even if they are indeed solid, figures may not be made. So I could be passing on something tangible for phantoms.

I never ever ever ever thought I would sell my SW Miniatures. But with the EU being ignored and SW staying on the stupid AF path, my anger outweighed my guilt. Sold that stuff and haven't looked back.

Dark Empire Luke signed poster, HT ROTJ Boba, HT ROTJ Luke, HT ANH R2, HT Heavy Mando, Gentle Giant Darth Malak bust and comic collection of Tales of the Jedi/Dark Empire. All the SW I own. AND I HAD A LOT.

I just started somewhere and eventually led to a much more comfortable place.

I do understand what you mean. Back when I begun I was at a more comforable place myself. I wanted to get the figures as "grails" and that was it. So less was needed. Now that they've become too commonplace, and as their number increases I see them more as props meant for a diorama rather than singular pieces, the more the greed in me increases.

Is it weird if I didn't even take into account the quality of the films? I see them as literal ads for dollies at this point. I used to look forward to them. Now I'm interested in who appears in them so that I can use Grant Morrison's Sexual Tantric Chaos Magick to beg the Chaos Gods to make HT make dollies of them...

HT can't keep up with so many MCU/DC/SW movies and shows. They're already behind.

I always have to see the movie first which affects purchasing power. Liking what I am seeing so far with Battinson. Suit does look very Year Two like.

I am very interested in a Midnight Sons team up. Strange, Blade and what looks like Black Knight are confirmed. Rumors of Ghost Rider are swirling right now and maybe Moon Knight joins up. I'd love to see that team. It would be awesome to see Ghost Rider with a separate Johnny Blaze with shotgun. That was a cool team up from the Midnight Sons/Ghost Rider comics.
