Mando season 3 will be a mix of the two. Can't wait for Disney to wreck Mando too. :yess:
I still have faith in Mando, and all joking aside I'm hoping they can move past the questionable decisions that made Ep 1 so disappointing and go on to tell a decent (& dare I hope engaging) story with the rest BoBF's season. Still, I can't help but think that after reading the Episode 1 script, Ming-Na Wen called Favreau and asked "Hey you still plan to have Fennec show up in Season 3 of Mando, right? RIGHT?" :lol

I still have a lot of faith/hope in Mando S3, but not going to lie, I lost some of it after seeing it was Favreau who wrote this first episode of BoBF. Makes me nervous for S3 and the fate of Luke/Grogu, especially if the ST continues to stand in the way of a brilliant new story.

Indeed, there is still potential for BoB to be good. If not, then at least this thread will be a fun ride (and Mando 3).

I think we'd all happily accept a disclaimer at the start of every new Star Wars show/film telling us that the ST doesn't exist or just to forget it happened. :lol

I don't think this can be fixed. The sarlaac scene will now permanently be a huge letdown and it was very important they get it right. Morrison as Boba Fett is simply not working out. He doesn't look, act, or feel like Boba Fett which is the whole point of the show.

I hope it gets better, but I think the best we can hope for is some cool moments sprinkled into a show that falls well short of expectations. Which is pretty sad because I thought this show was a slam dunk to be good and possibly even great. Episode one was the Disney Plus impression of the Haslab Rancor project.

I don't see the ST standing in the way whatsoever. The events of the ST are far enough in the future (compared to Mando's & BoBF's time frame) that there are plenty of stories they can tell without needing to set up or link to the ST in any way. IMO any significant involvement of Luke Skywalker in the stories they tell going forward will be contingent on our acceptance of another actor (such as Sebastian Stan) playing him, as I don't think CGI will cut it. This isn't a situation akin to de-aging SLJ in Captain Marvel - Hamill is too old and out of shape for that. I'm guessing Luke's involvement will be mostly off-screen going forward, with maybe another CGI cameo if/when Grogu departs to reunite with Din Djarin.

The truth is painful.

All roads lead to the ST in Disney canon. In the end, this Luke we got in Mando turns into ST Luke. As it stands now, the story of Grogu ultimately ends with Kylo killing him or him and Din being non-existent players in galactic events. Same goes for Ahsoka too. There are many paths the story takes, but no matter the twists and turns, these characters are being written, these stories are being developed, with the ST in the back of their mind, full well knowing, that the ST is inevitable. It is a gigantic road block and a stain on the future of the franchise that should clearly be in the hands of Grogu, Luke, Ahsoka, Din, Thrawn. Every time I watch Mandalorian I can’t help but think none of it matters because these characters in 20 some years time are all dead or irrelevant in the real timeline they exist in. I can pretend as much as I want that the ST doesn’t exist (believe me I do), but reality begs to differ.

Hey, they may never get to the point where tying into the ST is even a consideration, so I suggest you put that out of your mind and enjoy this stuff while you can. And as far as reality goes, remember this is all nothing more than popcorn entertainment. :chase

I just can't wait for new SW fans to feel the same pain I felt as a 14 year old when ROTJ Boba was punked by a blind fumbling stumbling Solo...oh wait I didn't care at the time...Boba was, and always will be a cool looking but side-bar character. Despite this I still collected some Boba merchandise over the years and will watch this show with an open mind.

If BOBF improves great, if not I save my self 40 minutes of time on Thursday night's for other pursuits...like coming to this forum to watch the **** show of SW butt-hurts explain away 'the whys and what fors' and 'how they would do it better' (--lol go to film school and prove it!) but the comic gold never fails--where SW is concerned-- and there are some very clever and very sarcastic people on this forum, so like sadist, I await the coming vitriol next week.

Before the Dark Times. Before The Mouse. :cautious:

This. The fact I knew that when AOTC came out has helped me not to heap too much hate on this show.

Original OT is all that matters. The rest is fan fiction that I happen to enjoy

I just watched episode one.

I mean, it isn't horrible, but something felt off. Boba feels like a geriatric that just wants some quiet time and to avoid trouble. How the hell do you plan to take over the Hutt's empire and act like you don't need to be forceful.

'Jabba acted through fear, I will act through respect' - Like getting your *** kicked in the street like a old man trying to steal a boot. What the hell.
