All I could think of throughout the entire episode was the old lifecall commercial.

Aaaaahhh help me hot Asian lady and green space pigs; I've fallen and I can't get up!

Honestly, it was a very uneven episode. I wouldn't go so far as to call it BAD, but it sure as hell wasn't GOOD either.

I think I actually yelled at my screen when the ninjas surrounded him "YOU'RE WEARING A ******* JETPACK!! FLY AWAY, YOU *****!!!"

As for him being a fat old man....I don't know. Looks like he still has pecs and not moobs. You don't suppose they'd actually CGI the moobs off, him, do you?

Also, Jennifer Beals is 58 years old, just like Ming-Na Wen. I don't know if it's incredible make-up and de-aging CGI or what, but she also looks freaking incredible for her age.

Maybe they both bathe in baby's blood or something. Whatever their secret is, it's working.

I wouldn't be at all disappointed if one of the seven episodes of this series is just her character and Fennec wearing lingerie and having a pillow fight on a big bed.

The black clad Tuskens look cool but it makes no sense when they live in a permanently sunny enviroment. Surely they’d get even hotter and even more dehydrated meaning they have to scavenge for and consume more water?

I don't see the ST standing in the way whatsoever. The events of the ST are far enough in the future (compared to Mando's & BoBF's time frame) that there are plenty of stories they can tell without needing to set up or link to the ST in any way. IMO any significant involvement of Luke Skywalker in the stories they tell going forward will be contingent on our acceptance of another actor (such as Sebastian Stan) playing him, as I don't think CGI will cut it. This isn't a situation akin to de-aging SLJ in Captain Marvel - Hamill is too old and out of shape for that. I'm guessing Luke's involvement will be mostly off-screen going forward, with maybe another CGI cameo if/when Grogu departs to reunite with Din Djarin.
Bein' one of the few who 1) never wanted Luke thrown into the mix so early and 2) am no fan of de-aging...for me it's a bummer. Still think the show would have been better if somehow it would have built to a Luke appearance at the end, either as part of the inevitable big end battle, or maybe, Mando and child just run into Luke, finally out in the desert. And basically Luke explains not every Force wielder needs to become a Jedi etc. Daddy doesn't have to give up his boy to turn into Baby Yoda etc.

It ticks me off 'coz I don't have a moment to look forward to when Luke shows up, as he already DID, so now it's just waiting for whether Din becomes ruler of Mandalore or not. :impatient:

Srsly is Luke supposed to fight with some big hood on, again? Who does that in SW? Bite the bullet and put Stan in, finally. At least he wouldn't have to keep the d@mn hood on. The suppose it could be like the Matrix thing where Luke is so powerful, he just waves his hands around vs. a lightsaber.:monkey3

Not only that but the almost universal disdain for Episode 1 has given us a real sense of community. Is it so wrong that I want that to last? :rotfl

Well, it doesn't seem to be COMPLETELY universal. Seems to be pretty much agreed the new Tusken outfits are pretty cool, and the new woke? paradigm is that far from being alien, savage creatures in dirty robes that will shoot you off your speeder for fun and grab your stuff, they are a noble misunderstood race favoring beads and dreads. And they don't walk in single file when the wind blows the sand a certain way, making sure lucky tourists can get an artistic group shot. :mexwave

Can't wait to PO:D. Tho *&^%$ Sideshow sends a coupon only good for today for in-stock items.:pfft:

Almost nothing looked like SW in this episode

Almost everything looked like Galactic Starcruiser in this episode!

Even worse…

Almost everything BEHAVED like Galactic Starcruiser in this episode!

At least Canto Casino had those cool cops lol

Well the bad news here is that this first episode set a precedent - Boba can't get into too much of a scrape or he needs to bail to his bacta tank. Not sure how he was able to do what he did to a squad of stormtroopers, but episode 1 shows that he is going to need to rely on the tank and not exert himself physically against enemies. That is not a Boba Fett show I care to watch honestly. Usually this type of storyline is about someone in power of others for a long time and is losing his grip on it. Boba is trying to acquire more power while losing his. *Sigh*

And I thought Mando was a bumbling *****.

Maybe able-ism and age-ism are Disney's next targets.

I don't think this can be fixed. The sarlaac scene will now permanently be a huge letdown and it was very important they get it right. Morrison as Boba Fett is simply not working out. He doesn't look, act, or feel like Boba Fett which is the whole point of the show.

I hope it gets better, but I think the best we can hope for is some cool moments sprinkled into a show that falls well short of expectations. Which is pretty sad because I thought this show was a slam dunk to be good and possibly even great. Episode one was the Disney Plus impression of the Haslab Rancor project.
Someone sticky this on page one of this thread. :lecture
Where is Clown? Didn't Boba rip off Dune?

Hopefully TM ends up getting the same fate as Stellan Skarsgard. TM has a similar physique to Dune Skarsgard so more meat for a SW beastie to chomp down on.

A few months ago I purged the last of my Hot Toys including Deluxe ESB Fett and then used the cash to acquire a Golden Age Cap comic from 1944. I wondered if I'd live to regret letting Fett go. I don't anymore...
