Why does the guy with the pole fall?

I mean, that gif clearly demonstrates the care that was taken with ROTJ... and the primary reason I do not like that movie. So many shots and moments are just poorly staged.

Even funnier if you take into account that Mando had had his jetpack for like a week while Fett had been wearing his since he was a child, lol. But all he can think to do at the sight of an approaching wall is to...scream? :lol

He wasn't screaming, it was his war cry!!! 😭

His last words were, "What the...?" when his jetpack got hit. You can clearly hear it if you wear headphones. :lol It wasn't a badass sounding voice either.

That scene is a better visual representation of the desert spice effect on soldiers than anything from the Dune movie!

Remember that episode of Mando where the bandits clothesline his speeder bike and he still is able to recover himself in midair at like a hundred miles an hour? What the hell is Fett's excuse for utterly spazzing out, lol.

I've actually never noticed that before. :lol

I wonder what curse word follows "What the..." in the Star Wars universe?

What the poodoo?
Always thought it was odd when people in SW reference or use English language stuff. "They'll blow us all straight to Hell" - Beckett

Yes I know that his jetpack was damaged but again I ask what's his excuse for doing nothing but screaming and wildly flailing his arms? At the very least they could have stuck with the original storyboards where Luke cuts off his hand and then slices his jetpack with his saber (which I believe that prop was originally designed to represent) instead of having him being taken out in such a goofball way by a confused blind man.

This may be the single most hilarious gif in all of SW. :rotfl

I don't think one single element is in sync with any other, lol.

WHY does the first guy just give himself to the Sarlacc after throwing his gun in the air? Is he diving after it? ("Wait, that's my favorite gun, aiiiieEEEE!") The second guy looks like he's ducking Boba Fett while the third inexplicably runs unarmed into Luke's lightsaber. :lol
Good lord, this is just fantastic! Does anyone else wonder why Fett's flight suit appears to be a fairly deep blue? The Boba builder in me is wondering if I need to build an ROTJ SE SE with Prepro Flight suit and ESB helmet!

It's a goofy visual for sure, but if you're willing to accept that the jetpack was damaged to that degree, then Fett would have no remedy or recourse with a sail barge wall greeting him in a hurry. The arm-flailing and screaming might've been George (and/or Marquand) associating it with a typical human reaction similar to when plummeting helplessly. Bracing himself could've been better, I suppose, but it seems to bother some people a lot more than it bothers me (thankfully).

I agree that he should've had a more dignified ending in that scene (or at least less of a slapstick one), but if the idea was to have him eliminated by something random, rather than being bested by an opponent, I just never understood why it's such a problem. It's not like being a badass makes you immune to having a freak occurrence be what takes you out on the battlefield.

Alright, I've watched this on loop through an hour long meeting (yeah, I didn't contribute much to it). Anyway, considering these are all live, practical effects, I can totally seem them looking at this and saying "I don't feel like stringing Fett back up and getting everyone back on that skiff, it'll look fine at full speed..." :)

Well if you are fine with the scene as is then I certainly don't want to convince you to *not* like it but I'm sure you've heard the complaints enough times already that there will be no danger of that happening.

I'm fine with freak accidents taking out badasses like the storyboard of Hobbie crashing into Veers' AT-AT but the battle of Hoth at least *showed* Veers being a badass first. All Fett did was seemingly put himself within arm's reach of harm for absolutely no reason, accomplish nothing in the actual battle, then go out comedically like a screaming fool.
