looks to thick and bulky and doesn't really hang correctly. The clasps are cool though.

Yeah, in the end I had to choose between getting an authentic furred look or having a low-hanging drape. I figured it would be better to get the wool feeling, so I went with that; at least I can futz it that way, which was the lesser of two evils. Thanks for the comments though; I'll give it another look and try to match it a bit more with those great images. It's definitely not perfect, though of course it's always going to be a work in progress to a certain extent. Thanks!

hey forgive me since i haven't watched my DVDs in awhile but from that bottom photo up there^ it looks like there's a paisley kinda pattern on his cloak. so is Bor's cloak fur or patterned cloth?

I remember seeing that pattern when watching the movie, but from that costome shot it just looks like fur. Maybe it was reverable?

After a tremendous amount of research and study (I'm talking about a few weeks here) I've found that the cloak was in fact a thick, woolly velvet, embossed with a pattern and lined with fur, the outside being a deep burgundy and the inside black, with the fur along the edges. Technically I would need to add fur along the edge from the clasps down to the hem, but unless I find a suitable looking match in 1:6 scale, I won't worry about it. The cloak is bulky as is, so it doesn't need me throwing more stuff on it to add to that. Besides, at this size the velvet looks furry enough as it is.

OK people, I'm making 5 of these cloaks to pay for my Hobbits. If you want one, check out the LOTR threads and the Commerce threads. Act now or lose out on this round!
