The closing of the political threads is really becoming annoying

What is it that is getting these threads shut down. I have seen FAR more animosity allowed in the Sideshow/Medicom discussions than has been practiced in some of these political threads that are being sealed. I can understand if they get out of hand. But I am seeing too many that are pretty innocent save for maybe the few comments from some who go into the thread solely to post animosity toward the thread, and in those cases it should be those individuals who get the sanctions for those posts.

There are few forums where these discussions can take place in reasonable manners. It is a damned shame to me to see them sealed for what seems to me to be little or no reason at all.

Come on mods...lighten up.:D

This board has no place for politics.Go speak about those elsewhere.

I've explained many times in many threads. I allowed 2 political threads to run for many days, but it took many deletions and close monitoring to keep them on track and not devolve into flame fests. I grew tired of it. So a couple of recent threads that hadn't gotten too far afield got shut down with the first hint of animosity.

I would love for this to be a community where those with different ideas can rationally discuss topics that effect the world, such as politics and religion. But that seems impossible since the abuse and mudslinging inevitably come forth.

Or some members roll out their wackness which just cheapens any serious thread and greases the slippery slope into chaos.

Dave please continue to close/delete ALL political and conspiracy theory threads.

:rock

Yes please!

I dont understand why some members fell the need to argue politics on a toy forum. Dont they have friends and family to discuss world affairs with?

I never used to think it, but these days I wish Dave was much more strict, much much more strict.

As I've said in other places - people are interested in sharing more than just about the one topic that has drawn them here. I'm interested in hearing what others are thinking about current topics...

...unless, of course, if they disagree with me - morons!:duh

Dave, I made this suggestion before, but I'll request it again, since I like reading peoples opinion and honestly appreciate both sides (I am in no way a die hard conservative that can't see the rationale presented from the other side)... so, would it be possible to create an area, similar to the Sandbox, where people can try to discuss their viewpoints civilly, but those viewpoints don't have to appear on the home page or even under the "new posts" banner? At least until this difficult election is completed in November.

From one who has spent a lot of time in political threads, I say to hell with them. If you want to post your political opinion, find someone who wants to hear it and PM them. If I agree with you, then I don't need to hear it, and if I don't agree, I just plain don't want to hear it. There are enough things in the world to make me angry, and this is one of the few places that does the opposite.

Death to political threads. :acme

I'm 40 years old and I collect toys. Do you really think I have friends to discuss world affairs with?:D

It's interesting to read what people argues here but I also agree that you should close all political thread. These topics can become real sensitive. Some people don't get the facts before posting. Especially the @$$ with the remark on the 9/11 thread that was deleted.
