The closing of the political threads is really becoming annoying

The problem with the generalizations cited in this thread is that they give the appearance (intended or not) of being dismissive of differing opinions, and sometimes they even carry a tone of superiority. That is guaranteed to raise someone's hackles.

There isn't a thread on the board where you can post "I Like..." without someone else posting "I hate..." That's the nature of discussion boards.

And the generalizations such as "all liberals are..." is just as bad as any other "...ism" such as "racism" or "fascism". That's why I kept admonishing about the insults and generalizations in the political threads.

You are no doubt only going to see the Republicans as "ganging" up on him. I will not bring his name up again in this thread. If you don't like it then delete my post or ban me. You yourself have seen the way he tried to twist the 9/11 thread around. You didn't like it did you. I read another post where he got into it a little bit with Pixletwin also. It's pretty clear that Republicans are the "minority" here. I have already stated that if Obama would win the White House that I would come in here and congratulate his supporters. The problem is is that most in here show very little respect for the Republican Party. I read the political threads and usually stay out of them until I get tired of reading how messed up we are. I have stated that before. You respect my President by at least keeping responses somewhat less disrespectful and I promise, I will do the same.

Totally agree. I dont like Obama. Do i think hes going to win? yes unfortunately. but im not going to help put him in office, but i have nothing negative to say about the people on this board that support him..Unlike the people who have responded to my comments that support him. I guess they see the celebrities and media doing so they think its ok to do it too...i dont know its pretty f'ed up.

Seems odd, but it seems like boards that have more military figures on them have more conservatives like OSW. This site has alot more fantasy figures represented, which appears to me heavily favors a Democratic or Liberal following. This isn't meant to be rude, just seems like it to me.

So you are saying that Conservatives tend to be more centered on realism and libs tend to be more centered on fantasy? Can't wait to see how that "other guy" responds to this! Should be interesting.

I think a large amount of the population is confused about how to define liberal and conservative.
To me, a conservative is someone who believes in smaller, less intrusive government, lower taxes and the freedom to pursue their happiness. They don't necessarily want the government's help but they also don't want the government placing obstacles in the way. A conservative believes the government should be the final option and not the first.
Which is very different from Howard Dean's statement that Republicans think its ok for kids to go hungry at night.
