Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

That display looks great. How much did it cost you to make?

Thanks pix. It cost me about $10. All I have to buy is the paint, plexi, mirror and hangers. The maple lumber I make all of my small displays out of is just unusable lumber that I get from where I work. If I had to buy the maple it would cost another $20 to $25 more.:monkey4

Gotta love free maple lumber!:monkey5

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

Nice work on your customs and your case. Very classy.

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

Here's a staff for Gandalf that I made a while ago for a fellow freak and his custom work in progress figure.

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

Well one of my Maul arms got loose so I decided to go ahead with a little project I've been wanting to do for a while...a Maul body swap with a DiD New Pattern body. I wanted a bit more height to him and a bit more muscle plus the DiD body is superior to the buck IMHO.
So here it goes:

Just a bit more height and muscle mass.

Now the problem. Wrong hand posts.

But all is well! I have a forearm donar. A Buck with a busted neck. On to the saw.

I cut the Buck arm off at the twist point and then sanded the end smooth and flat by dragging it across a piece of 220 grit on a flat surface.

Then I used the Buck arm to measure and mark the amount that gets cut off the DiD.

Once I cut and sanded the DiD arms I used super glue to attach the Buck stumps.

Then after a little black Krylon to cover what might show he's ready for a new head, hands and wardrobe.

And he's already kickin' some Jedi butt in less than an hour.

The height difference between Maul and Jinn is just fine.

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

You are totally right, this body is maybe the most flexible after the Medicom body, especially for Ray "Maul" Park.
Nice done :clap

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

Very nice repaints there. I really like that Han. I think it brings out the likeness of Harrison Ford much more. Great work!

I just had to log back in and say BRAVO!
One hell of a Luke and Han! Excellent work Adam!
I am very impressed!

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

Excellant repaints especially luke and the tutorial on the for maul will come in handy in the future no doubt.

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

very nice work on the han cocoboloboy! especially like the eyebrow work. not sure if you (or anyone) knows the answer to this, but what was used as the base body on those custom chewbaccas?

Thanks for the compliment. The base body for Chewie is the AOTC Chewbacca figure Hasbro put out. At least mine is. Not much articulation unfortunitely but overall an excellent looking custom. The fur is just about perfect.

Thanks! I hope the tut comes in handy.:rock

Thanks Ryan! I think it looks more like Han too. In fact the sculpt really grew on me as I was painting it. SS did a better job with this figure than most people lead you to believe.

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

I like the Han sculpt just fine now that I've repainted his hair brown (as you did). I think that's the biggest problem with how the figure looks out of the box. Black hair throws everything off.

Re: Cocoboloboy's Crazy Customs

I have to agree with you guys. The head sculpt is actually pretty good... much better than people give it credit for. Just repainting the hair and eyebrows brings out the likeness even more.
