If it's so hard to get the Joker license why are all the big statue companies making Joker stuff?
Yup. Hot Toys doesn't get to just make whatever they want, and companies can have a lot of different reasons for turning down products. Remember when Marvel basically shut down any and all X-Men and Fantadtic Four merch? If it's so easy why is literally nobody else making anything, and why is it only just now coming over a full year after the movie?
You seriously don't think a company would kill to make figures of a billion dollar hit movie starring an A-list character? Hell, Hot Toys made like three Joker figures for that **** Suicide Squad movie.
I know. My point is that it's not just Hot Toys. Virtually nobody did any merchandise for The Joker, not S.H. Figurarts, not McFarlane, not DC Direct, not MAFEX or even Funko, which leads me to conclude it's not an "interest" thing but a licensing or red tape one.

Where have you been?
It could be that the license is only for Statues since the movie is more than just a comicbook movie now. The licensor may feel that statues represent the quality and gravitas of the film where a ?toy? won?t. The license might not be for EVERY type of collectible. Toys can be left out of the agreement. Even JP could have said he did not want any toys to be made with his likeness if he holds the rights. Johnny Depp holds the rights to his likeness when it is in use and approves his collectibles. Sideshow mentioned that when they made the second Jack Sparrow Statue. It is not always across the board. When you acquire a license, that does not mean you acquire every single format and scale or even character. There is a lot that goes into licensing.
I think I?ve posted the same message re worded here before (can?t remember, don?t hate me) but Hot Toys have the entire Arkham video game series to produce figures from. They don?t always have to do movies. But nope, they re hash storm troopers in slightly different color. mandalorian, Bobo fet, storm trooper #10000, they all look the same. Then there?s marvel, with iron man this, spider man that, venom crap instead of an actual venom, Hot Toys is being pegged by Disney. Imagine if they tapped into the Arkham games, they have 20 plus figures right there, with multiple looks for each character. Just look at the Prime 1 Arkham line. Hot Toys could do that line if they wanted, again doesn?t always have to be movies. They already have 5 out with Harley Quinn and Batman beyond on pre order.
TL;DR: give up, if you want DC Collectables, look for another place that?s not 1/6 scale figures. Statues have a ton of variety in the DC world. You ain?t getting any here, and 3rd party 1/6 scale suck 99% of the time.

Yep, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I feel like most people have no exposure to how a business that produces products (physical or otherwise) actually functions, and don't understand how decisions like this get made, or the limitations that exist. You're not really looking at it objectively though, are you? Hot Toys wouldn't even make Arkham figures in the same quantity even remotely comparable to how many they make for Spiderman and Stormtroopers that sell out. Not to mention the costs of creating head sculpts, new body types, unique clothing and accessories. It's much easier and more cost effective to be able to produce printed suits on the same true-type body without needing a face sculpt and reusing some parts.
Yes, Hot Toys does this really well so it works for them. Truth of the matter is it's much easier to produce stuff like troopers and Spiderman when they can outsource tailoring to different people and that's the bulk of the production work. Then on top of that they all sell. We just need to face it, a business is a business is a business, they're not here to please everyone's single wishes, they want money whilst giving high quality products. It's much easier in life to just accept what is made and if you like it to purchase it then to begrudge a company for not making what you specifically like just because you would buy it and like their product. It's also much better on your wallet to just accept what is out there instead of looking continuously to purchase everything you like.
But that's just me. I do this for fun, I really would like a Hot Toys Joker and a representation of some other film characters, but I'm not going to get bitter about it. Hot Toys doesn't owe me anything as a customer, they made some things that I've liked, I've agreed to pay them for it, transaction ends there. They now don't owe me an undying gratitude because I've supported them.

They have not been "doing this since 09" man.
Come on. Get your timeline straight.
Hot Toys didn't become the major force it was until the the second wave of the "Dark Knight" MMS figures - which was a very diverse, non-Disney line - beginning with Bank Robber Joker. That began in 09.
Nah son. In 09 they started pumping out lots of iron man and jokers and batman is hardly diverse. They still do that. Once avengers hit in 2012 it was over
