How the heck would the Joker "bring it all together"? :lol Sounds like more Joker-fan BS. :cuckoo:

I usually have 1 shot to introduce something like this to my wife and I definetly think she would have liked batman more if she saw the TDK or maybe BB.

Yeah starting her with the 3rd act in a trilogy was a bad idea. :lol

Though she probably wouldn't have cared for them in the first place. :dunno

Very interesting read. Thanks for the link.

The most interesting thing I've heard about this film has been in a podcast by the Indoor Kids. There it was pointed out that the story for the film was written before Ledger's death and that the Joker was to play heavily in the final act of the film and that thematically Joker was going to bring it all together. And so a lot of the shortcomings in the script are the results of having to rewrite the Joker character out of it.

I kept thinking about that throughout the film..... What this could have been had Heath lived... I think it would have really put this movie over the top and it would have been amazing to behold.

I hope that one day Nolan and Goyer reveal the original story, even in raw form... so we could at least imagine more accurately. :thud:

You never know... My Wife liked the other two films... and she really loved this one. She even teared up several times.

And yeah, starting out with the third would have been hard for anything. Imagine starting Star Wars with Jedi?? :cuckoo:

Josh! Man! Haven't seen you in a dog's age! Welcome back!

Yeah, as much as it pains me, I kinda would rather have a recast Joker and the original story ending than what we got. As it is it just feels like they rewrote the Return of the King and took out Golum.

Nolan didn't even have an outline for a third movie before Ledger died.

Nolan says he is jotting notes and doing some rough outlines for a third story, but he hasn't yet found anything he's willing to commit to film, despite Warner Bros.' eagerness to get a new film underway.

That is December, 2008. After TDK he was more concerned with Inception.

Just seen this yesterday! Darn great movie! Loved it! The story was very dark and deep! In fact, some of it was down right depressing at times!

Nolan ended this trilogy the right way. The same can't be said for other movie franchises! The Nolan Batman will definitely go down as one of the greatest superhero movie series of all time! Thank you for the entertainment Nolan, Bale, & crew! :clap

The rough outlines dealing with the ending featuring the Joker would be enough for me. In Hollywood, pitches are often bought with less than that as a starting point.

But why would he write an ending with the Joker after Heath died?

He didn't.

Story credit goes to Chris Nolan and David Goyer. They started working on it before Ledger's death. Word is that it featured the Joker heavily. At least thematically. How much of the story had come together and by which writer when... Don't know. That's not something they are necessarily going to want to talk about right now. But if you read the article again, it says nothing about earlier outlines, or even drafts, that he has thrown out now that Ledger has died. He wasn't going to say of his writting process: my partner and I had it all worked out but now I've had to start over and I really haven't gotten more than a few ideas down.

Guys - does BW actually die? Is the Alfred scene at the end (seeing BW and SK chilling) part of his "annual imagination"??

Bane's voice is honestly one of the coolest parts in the film. :lecture

Pure nonsense.

Batman got the girl...
The girl got the pearls...
The orphans got Wayne manor...
...and they all lived happily ever after.

It is bad ass, isn't it.

Reminds me of a fight I had with my grandmother once.

You're assuming jye was the victor. :wink1:
:lol

yep :exactly:
So, interested to see... What's everyone's favorite scene? (Besides Blake finding the cave of course.) :D

Mine would have to be the first brawl, or the scene between Dagget and Bane. "Do you feel in charge?"
Favourite scene of the trilogy is the interrogation in TDK, favourite in TDKR, well there's a few, the sewer fight, Batman and Catwoman making their way to Bane, the Bat swooping in making the cops pumped up and the last fight.

Though I agree with a-dev somewhat, i'd rather have seen a more powerful bats in the last fight, he still gets his ass kicked, lol. And Bane nearly blowing his head off only for catwoman to save the day. Though I guess she did owe him one.
