You felt like the oxygen was being ripped from your body forcibly... somehow making you implode? Interesting. Not even Kate Beckinsale could soothe the pain?

I kind of liked that they brought the League of Shadows back (I was going to say I really liked it, but as I thought about it, some things didn't quite add up). These guys are deep rooted extremists, and they've been around for a very long time (if their claims of destroying London, Rome, and Constantinople were true), I doubt they would stop after being defeated twice/losing their leader (as, again, I'm sure that a centuries old organization would be used to getting new leaders every once in a while). That being said, why would the League go after Gotham when the entire reason for it is no longer an issue?

Wasn't the entire point of trying to destroy Gotham so that it could be rebuilt as a better city? Didn't Batman technically accomplish that mission by taking the fall for Dent? The more I think about it, the more that Ra's would've been proud of Bruce, as, although they employed different methods, the outcome was, essentially, the same.

that was something that always crossed my mind,

this group, this Elite group of assassins that have been around for hundreds of years were defeated by one single guy in a bat suit...:dunno

and, wasn't Bane the last of the League, and technically he even wasn't, he wanted to be, he thought he was representing the League, but he wasn't even really

So, I guess Batman really is faster than Chuck Norris? Or perhaps Chuck Norris was disguised as one of the ninjas that boarded the train and took them out for Batman as he fumbled outside on a grappling wire?

I saw the trailer for Taken 2 today before the Expendables, Neeson should just quit and fade away for a while, it looks embarassingly stupid.

Saw it in IMAX for the first time yesterday. Wow. Unbelievable. Incredible. Amazing.

I was distracted by the shifting aspect ratios but those IMAX shots were out of this world. The cityscapes, alley shootout, the chases, the fist fight on the steps. Just amazing. I even got a hint of vertigo when Batman was standing on top of that tower looking out at the city.

For me this movie really is the best Batman movie ever made and likely the best DC movie we'll ever see and it elevates the entire trilogy to a whole new level. And this is after having just watched TDK on blu last weekend. I'm glad we didn't have the Joker in this one (I'm not talking cameos, I mean I'm glad that for the sake of the trilogy the character wasn't able to take center stage again.) He was just too comedic (and rightly so obviously.) I like villains like Bane. Very ESB Darth Vaderish (as has already been pointed out.)

The fistfight in the sewer is one of my favorite (if not my literal favorite) brawls I've ever seen in a superhero movie. Knock down, drag out, and brutal. And interestingly enough after Bats kicks Bane twice in the torso to lead off the fight his next two punches appear to literally be against Bane's mask. In fact I counted about half a dozen hits to the mask throughout the fight so he wasn't being an idiot and just ignoring it. To Bruce's bad luck he just wasn't connecting in a way to damage it obviously.

I *don't* see this movie as the ultimate "Batman" movie, and I'm glad it isn't. I'm sure you guys will get your due with the reboot but this to me was just a fantastic, character driven, "story first" action/crime/drama/hero quest that featured a guy with gadgets and a cool suit. I *liked* that we didn't see him in the suit that often. That aspect felt akin to the restrained appearances of the shark in Jaws and the alien in ALIEN. Because boy when he did appear in costume did each shot ever have impact.

I loved the use of the Bat. Twice before we've Bruce flying the "Batplane" or whatever its called and it always has this big dramatic entrance and is shot down three minutes later. We got what, four scenes with the Bat, the finale being an exhilirating air to ground chase/battle? Awesome.

The scene where he straps the nuke to the Bat might be my favorite scene in a superhero movie. The resolution, the tension, the exasperation of Gordon at both losing his "friend" and never knowing who to give credit to, only to be let in on the secret at the last second, Catwoman's goodbye kiss, it was just pitch perfect in pacing, acting, and drama. I know, I know, I'm supposed to realize all the things that scene got "wrong" like Gordon not knowing who Batman was and whatever else. I'll let the usual suspects pick apart my post with rolling eyes and silly memes but for me I have no complaints, that was one epic farewell scene and that's all there is to it.

Loved the movie. What a great finale.

Finally going to catch it tonight, can't wait. Almost 3 hours long though...shat.

It is. Though I've been one of those dissecting it and pointing out its faults, TDKR is certainly not a slog and never really feels that long.

Yeah. I was wondering if the first half of the movie might drag the second time around but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it moved pretty fast and had plenty of engaging scenes throughout.

Now that we've had an epic Avengers movie that dared to stay true to its four color origins and an epic Batman trilogy that dared to present the events as a "real" movie I wonder if now someone might dare to do both at once. I suppose Donner's original Superman did do that in a sense but it'd be interesting to someone take a stab at it in the here and now.

I figured it wouldn't feel like 3 hours...kind of like the LOTR movies.

I was worried though because TDK seemed to drag on to me..I think because I honestly don't like Ledger's Joker....I enjoyed that movie though.
