In one way, Nam is right, this recent shooting I believe had much more press than Ledger's suicide.

I'm a huge superhero movie nerd fanatic (no **** ) so I went to multiple viewings of this movie yet I would be lying if I said I wasn't seriously worried about copycats.

So i'm certain non fanatics didn't go because of copycat fears.

You're really reaching there. And I wouldn't say "idiots" I'd just say people who are more cautionary than others. Less people went to TDKR because of the shooting. Ignoring that fact would be asinine.

And yet, despite the bad and negative press that keeps people out of the theater, it's bringing in more money than TDK. Which shows that previous theories of Ledger's death and "free press" wasn't the only reason TDK broke box office records.

Who's being asinine? How can the film earn more than TDK if the press is keeping people away?

And to ignore that this press, beit bad press but still press, isn't still free advertising for TDKR is doubly asinine given the film is mentioned in every press release.

Press kept certain people away in the US - It's US numbers were below TDKs

That bad press is not much of an issue outside the US, and it's gone gangbusters

All in all it's beat TDK and in the final analysis will have surpassed TDKs total by probably 10-15%
