I saw a review that said something I agree with it.

That Bane went and accomplished only half way thru the movie what Joker couldn't at all, making Gotham his playground.

Yeah Joker brought down the white knight and the lie did keep Gotham honest and good, but Bane had truly won Gotham if not for Batman, not even the Feds would've stopped him.

I do like that the Joker said when the chips were down that these civilized people would do each other in, Bane showed that to be the case as well. (So there's your Joker connection :lol)

:monkey4

"Don't talk like one of them, you're not, even if you'd like to be."

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

"You know for awhile there, I thought you really were The Penguin. The way you threw yourself after that cold glass of ice water."

That cold glass of water will make u go peepee...and we know what happens when u go peepee...

Yupp

Even in some of the interviews Nolan talks about 'going there' - actually showing a Gotham in ruin and under seige, something that has been threatened in both BB and TDK but Batman is able to save it before it gets that far. This time it goes much further before Batman saves things in the nick of time.

Problem is, i dont think Joker would want to bring Gotham to the point Bane did.

It would be the thrill of the challenge with batman. If he broke Batmans back, thats it. it would be pointless. He has beaten batman to the point where he no longer is able to fight. And then, what would the Joker do? Nothing. He would just waste away. I mean, bane brought gotham to its knees by using a bomb as a threat and taking away the law enforcement.

Joker? He would WANT the law enforcement to chase him. He would WANT Batman in his peak to fight him. Thats the point to him. The thrill of the chase, the thrill of the fight, of having nothing to lose but everything to gain whilst pushing batman to his moral limits. That what joker loves; pushing him to his morals because he is no match physically and he knows full well he isnt.

:lol

So that's where Hot Toys got their likeness for Catwoman. :lol

I knew you would reply to that. Thing is the press for this movie kept people from seeing it. :lol

Idiots maybe. But it inspired fanboys to go more and I've no doubt sparked a general curiosity amongst the public at large to see what all the hoopla was about. The fact that this story went international, I believe, backs my theory. And I hear a cash register "Ka-Ching!" every time the news mentions anything about Holmes and, "The Dark Knight Rises shootings." :monkey1

Or how about both films were tremendously good and did financially well largely due to that simple fact :huh

Clearly publicity was generated by both unfortunate events but i've never subscribed to the theory that they were the primary factors for the financial success

You're really reaching there. And I wouldn't say "idiots" I'd just say people who are more cautionary than others. Less people went to TDKR because of the shooting. Ignoring that fact would be asinine.

And yet, despite the bad and negative press that keeps people out of the theater, it's bringing in more money than TDK. Which shows that previous theories of Ledger's death and "free press" wasn't the only reason TDK broke box office records.
