Guys this is the topic for the The Dark Knight Rises. Stop the Off topic pls. It is getting annoying after a few pages.

I loved the Avengers, and I would never hold this against the movie, but lets be honest - the whole theme of Coulson's death was a forced way of giving a semblance of sense to the movie title.

I understand why it was there, I know what Whedon wanted to achieve with it, but I must also admit it was just a deus ex machina of the plot.

Of all the Avengers the only one who had any kind of emotional connection with Coulson was Stark. And maybe MAYBE Rogers, but that's only based on the few interactions they had, during the course of a single day. Thor didn't give a **** about Coulson. Not really. He didn't really knew him, for Thor Coulson was just another semi-friendly face in the crowd of humans. Banner wasn't even formally introduced to Phil, for all we know.

And even if we assume that the whole team knew him better, the though that an imminent threat of an alien invasion and possible enslavement or destruction of the entire human race was not enough for them to get their s**t togheter, but an intercom message about a death of a guy they hardly cared about, was suddenly enough to infuse them all with the Glorious Wrath of Vengeance, is just silly.

I loved the conversation between Loki and Stark. But as soon as Tony started to talk about "avenging" things, it began to smell a bit fake. As if Whedon was selling something he didn't really believe himself. Like he just had to come up with some explanation for the name Avengers, becouse he knew full well that it didn't make any sense and that Lee and Kirby came up with it in the first place, only becouse it sounded "cool".

Also as a side note, Fernandofan is clearly not the only one who has issue with this. The entire world agrees with that? Really? Then why is it, that almost everytime I read some disscusion about Avengers, someone is bringing up Coulson's death.

Thanks, youve said everything Ive said except I didnt say it in such a... sugar coated/sensible way.

I still enjoyed Avengers, it was great. But It just didnt float my boat that much because it felt too forced. I mean, like you pointed out there was very few relationships with Coulson to force a 3 minuet montage of silent heroes looking in different directions and a longwinded false speech from Fury. It was just so contrived and poorly done to the point of it being 6 month old Seriously Strong Mature.

There was great interaction with Stark, I loved the interaction between Cap and Stark; trying to get one over each other. My gripe with Chris Evans purely is that I always think of Cap America as being in his mid 40's. I dont know why. I just always think of him being older, mature, experienced. Evans to me is too wide-eyed young man to command a team in 2012 IMO.

I did watch it this summer at the BFI in London! They had a Chris Nolan month :)

Really good film - great twist at the end, I'd put it above Insomnia - an 8/10 I think

Definitely above Insomnia. I would rate it about the same. Great film for something shot on weekends and starring actors who all had other jobs.

As much as I love Nolan's Batman films, a part of me is so relieved he can move onto original story ideas now.

But in Ultimates i think of a tall hulking late 30s/early 40s guy.

Last time i read marvel was Civil war. Downey? Yep i can imagine him going for presidency. Evans? too small thin and young-boyish. doesnt look gruff, or mature. Ive only seen cap in Spiderman 1994, Ultimate Alliance, civil war and Ultimates. just doesnt look right to me

Taken in context with the movies and what we've seen, so long as he bulks back up, Evans is perfectly fine as Cap. WWII was only 6 years long and we see him enlist as an 18 to 20-something and he's frozen before the war is even over. It was the same in The Ultimates, so I'm not sure where you're thinking he's this older man. I think you're just nonsensically hating over the spankage still. :lol

1. They were all being effed with by Loki's spear. It was plainly stated that Loki was actively trying to get the heroes to focus on themselves and him personally. Multiple times. And temporarily, he succeeded. When his spear was removed and the shock of a friendly's death hit them they almost *immediately* got their **** together.

2. They didn't really take Loki *that* seriously anyway. He was a trickster, manipulator, and liar. Did he really have an alien army at his disposal? Apparently Stark didn't fully believe it, hence his, "right, army" comment when he saw them actually appear. "You seeing this Stark?" "I'm seeing, still working on believing..."

Where's that deal with it gif.......:lol

Domt recall any spankage. Only read ultimates 1 and 2. Never watched the cap film either.

That was your first mistake :lol

lol. I wont lie, i dont have an interest in cap. I dont know much and i dont pretend to. I always assumed he was late 30s/early 40s. I always got a mature and very war-filled experienced super soldier with honour and valour through what mediums ive come across.

Only Spidey and Punisher I truly like. Loved xmen cartoon from the 90s and i love xmen evolution. Never picked an xmen comic in my life though.

Cap is barely 30

No movie is real 3D. At least, noticeable 3D. lol

I am still waiting for my first real 3D experience. Seems like the only true 3D experience I get at my theatre is the graphic of the "Please Recycle Your 3D Glasses at the End of the Movie" that comes on just before the trailers.
