No pics of Batman on that set, 3 pics of Joker. :lol They sure know how to milk the idiots.

Wow. Utter disappointment.... Easy pass. I will pick up the three two-disc Blurays and be happy with those. I coulda had those out of scale vehicles when they were released in the screen accurate colors in stores and I have the Art & Making of book which is likely to be far superior to whatever that new volume is.

Post those new documentaries here once they're posted on YouTube. Thanks and good day :wave

So that set is basically just dressed up re-releases of the previous discs? No new transfers/encodes of the movies with updated sound mixes? No commentaries? Just some cards, re-issued/repainted toys and an extremely abbreviated version of the "Making of..." book from last year?

Wow...this just looks like a quick throw-together "gift set" for the holiday crowd, not the archival, feature-laden set these movies deserve.

Maybe after another decade or so, these movies might get the "box set" treatment they deserve....but this ain't it....

I was trying hard not to get my hopes up about this set and I'm glad I didn't. There is nothing in that set that makes me HAVE to get it. This is an easy pass for me.

TDK and TDKR were released with three separate theatrical aspect ratios for the IMAX sequences: 2.35:1 35 mm, 1.85:1 Liemax, and 1.34:1 IMAX. For the blu-rays we got the Liemax ratio. It would have been nice to have feature length versions of the other two as well.

That's being saved for the 2nd Ultimate Box set. :rotfl

Don't you diehard TDK fans want to see every IMAX scene in all its uncropped glory? Wouldn't that be Nolan's *true* vision of the film, not its bastardized Liemax incarnation? Even with the shifting aspect ratios on the blu-ray you still don't see Joker's feet at the beginning of the bank heist. What's the deal Nolan?

No extended cuts, so no buy for me. :(

The prints do look cool, especially Bane.

Those little toys though, that's a slap to the face...

I think Nolan has mentally moved on from the Batman thing. That and he's never been big on Extended Cuts, Deleted Scenes, Commentary, etc. It just wasn't going to happen. :(

Sadly, even the initial standard MAN OF STEEL Blu-Ray will blow this away features wise. Considering that this is an "Ultimate Edition" release of a completed trilogy that is beloved and made gazillions... this is a damn shame. But it's on Nolan. He just pimp-slapped his diehard Batfans right in the face, did a mic drop, and walked off the stage.

As a director I wouldn't release extended editions of my work.

A. It says that my original was flawed in some way.
B. If it's not because it was flawed then it shows it was done for profit only.

Lose/Lose situation for a director who wants to be taken seriously and respected like Nolan does.

Or am I wrong.

Tell MEEEEEE! (what movie is dat from?)

Yeah, you're wrong. :lol

Different edits are made to films for many reasons, not all of them artistic or story-related.

Also, the case could be made that Extended Cuts could validate some of the choices made for the Theatrical Cut. They're not necessarily better. I'm definitely not one who automatically goes for the "more is better" stuff. In fact, I still very much prefer the Theatrical version of FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, as one example.

And this is just on the subject of Extended Cuts. What's the excuse for not including Deleted Scenes or doing audio commentary?

I own the extended cut of Gladiator. Ridley Scott introduces it as NOT being a director's cut. He says if you want to see the director's cut, watch the theatrical cut. It was a money making release by Universal, not Ridley Scott. Now on the reverse side, studio interference sometimes makes your films not turn out the way you'd exactly hoped. Look at Blade Runner.

Also, Peter Jackson's LotR films are a great example of an extended cut being presented as the director's cut. They weren't feasible to market in theaters in that format and he seemed to know it and that's why he made two cuts from the get go. I prefer the EEs to the theatricals and only own those, but I know some prefer the theatricals and still others enjoy both enough to own both.

Nolan believes in a theatrical cut being the director's cut. He doesn't think deleted scenes should be added and for most movies, that philosophy isn't flawed. All of these "Unrated" comedies drag with that extra stuff put in. They don't flow anymore. But for TDKR? I honestly think more footage and a new editing could help it be a better film.

How many edits of the Evil Dead flicks are there? Some serious flawed movies. (and none of them help the turdfest Army of Darkness) :lol
