There's only so many comics storylines / arcs / graphic novels which I think are worthy of being used as direct source material for film
and knightfall isn't one of them?

A NJ theater playing TDKR was just evacuated
WTF is going on with this world.

Accurate to the source material didn't make Spider-Man any better, so why would've it made TDKR better?
And so what if it takes you in a unique direction? If you tell me TDKR isn't great because of story, plot, character, writing problems, alright. But if you tell me it's bad because it's not like the comics. Meh to that good sir.
Eh. Somebody opened a door. Not exactly the sign of a society gone off the rails. People are just jittery at the moment.

I liked some aspects of each part, but I found Knightfall/Quest/End to be quite bloated, especially the latter two arcs.
I just pointed that out. B&R was far too close to the source material that it was gaudy on screen. Nolan's TDKR was so far removed from the source material that (IMO) it hurt it as far as being a "Batman" movie.
What void giveth to Namcat
Void taketh from Namcat
and knightfall isn't one of them?
While I can see what you mean where B&R was close to maybe 50's and early 60's camp source material That had pretty much been tossed from the comics. I still don't get what the studio was thinking.
oh wait...action figures...

it's pretty clear that nolan borrowed from all 3 parts and I think that it hurt the story more than anything
left out important parts & characters/embellished the not important parts
I thought Knightfall itself was well done. Someone using Batman's own obsession and his entire gallery of villains to wear him down was pretty awesome.
However I do agree that Knights Quest and Knights End felt over the top and ridiculous.
I'm going to see this again next weekend. It's definitely worth it. Besides, I think I've seen all of the Batman movies in theaters twice since Batman '89. Well, except Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. >.>
