Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Ten years and all this ballyhoo about a Ledger only Joker will be old news. The Joker, like Batman, is timeless, and can be played a myriad of ways. If there is ever a serious Arkham Asylum movie made, I sure as hell want a Joker in it. If there is ever an adaptation of Miller's Dark Knight Returns, I sure as hell want a Joker in it. If there is another movie WITH THE JOKER, I sure as hell want the Joker in it, so get over it!
Ledger's performance was legend. Oscar worthy. Magnificent! But he does not, can not, and will not ever OWN the Joker. The JOKER OWNS HIM!
So mote it be!

Do hope he wins the Oscar.

And I do hope the third film is as good as the other two. No need for a Spiderman 3 here...GADS!

I agree. However, he owns the Ledger incarnation version. The make-up, the scars, the voice....nothing can top that. And no one should try to replicate it.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Actually at this point I want to see Nolan put Joker in the film so that we can watch certain contingencies of fandom explode.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

That would just seem wrong. I dont care about the crazy fans. I just dont want any one else playing the Heath Joker.

That would be awesome :lol

I can see Nolan doing it, though. The problem is finding an actor who'd want to deal with the ^^^^storm that awaits.

But that's just it, and the point Im trying to make. It's not "the Heath Joker", it's THE JOKER. I want to see the Joker, in Nolan's films, again.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Nolan is smart. He won't undermine a third film by putting the Joker in it to steal the spotlight from whatever story he wishes to tell. Those fanboys who are dying to see Ledger's Joker repeated by another actor should just accept that. As for the Joker character himself, people will always say that certain actors own characters. They said that Cesar Romero was the best Joker at one time. Then again with Jack Nicholson. We heard that Michael Keaton was a great Batman, then we heard that Val Kilmer was great....not much about George Clooney though :lol

For some he will not be replaceable but the character endures and in about 15 years when Batman will surely be rebooted we'll see the influences but we'll see a whole other creature all together.

exactly how i feel about the topic. i won't go see the next batman if the joker is played by someone else.

So I dont mean to sound rude with this, but say Heath hadn't died and just chose not to reprise the role... would you still not see the movie if Joker was in it then?

I would still see the movie. Heath's Joker is Heath's Joker. I never want to see it again on film.

Any other Joker, yeah sure. I'd love to. But never this one...'

Well, you won't.

Because he's dead.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Yeah exacly. Move on. Wait till the next Batman series.l

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I wish Warner Bros. will do a solid job with the third, and continue the Batman series like the Bond films; not keep drastically rebooting every two to three films.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I would not mind a new person playing the Joker in a third movie but only if they play him different than Heath. Heath did such a great job that no one should try and copy it, but the Joker has to live on. The character is bigger than one performance, even if the performance was amazing.

In a sense every two or three movies in Bond IS a reboot. Different actor, different plot line, different feel to the bond character and loss of all sub-plot lines. Batman is the type of character that has many different interpretations. Bond has one really, so each time another movie is made it stays fairly close the the old Bond persona.

Its been covered extensively in this thread, but its a moot point. They will not put a new joker into the Nolan movies. To risky after Ledger.

To illistrate my point: Say you marry a super hot swedish bikini model. After being married for a year you come home one day to find that she has gained 400 pounds and grown a beard. Don't worry though, she still wears her bikini for you!

In other words, you bought into one image, and end up with something completely different. Even if you dress the new image up the same as the old it still doesnt work! If the initial image is nearly perfect....usually a change isnt for the better.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I say bring back the Joker with a new actor. I am thinking...Daniel Day-Lewis. He would have a phenomenal Joker, plus he is lanky. Until the actual script is written for the 3rd Batman and there is no Joker written in is when I will believe they won't recast the Joker. Until then, everything is fair game.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

There are so many villains in the Batman universe that it would be silly to go back and try to redo a character that was already done so well. I want Nolan to give us something fresh and new, not microwaved leftovers. If this were a weekly tv series then we would expect the Joker to be a recurring character, but if Nolan does just one more Batman film then I want him to do something new.

:lecture:lecture:lecture Perfectly put, no more Joker in the Nolan Bat flicks.

I would also agree with this but I think it would be great to have the Joker in the 3rd film, even if it was not a lot of screen time. Like showing him in Arkham. Where Batman would visit him, could be some great scenes. But with the whole Batman on the loose thing, who knows.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

No. Ledger's Joker died with Ledger. Move on. And in the future, let someone else have a go at the character. Post Nolan.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I really don't think it matters. Warner Bros is in the business to make money. If Nolan isn't down with the 3rd film they will find someone else to do it. If Nolan keeps to his word and stops after three, I guarantee that Warner will find another director to do a 4th film. If they feel they need to bring back the Joker in some aspect, they will. In the end it doesn't matter what the fans opinion is.
