Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Retarded, even.

But I am fully sympathetic to the fanaticism. Batman is my favorite character in the world, and Nolan's success in bringing him to life in these films is a debt I'll not be in a position to repay any time soon. The films could be better, but they are so much better than anything else made to date, I can completely forget the rest, and not be in a rush to get something new.

Regardless, no chanting, please. Mantras are weird, no matter how justifiable. :wink1:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

No, but I grew up reading Knightfall, so I really need him to overwrite the memory of Bane as a ____ty Mexican wrestler who outsmarts the World's Greatest Detective.

I like the story of Knightfall that World's Greatest Detective "Batman" is outsmart mentally & spline broken physically by a Wrestler Bane as not much Batman's villians can did this to Batman.

Maybe there will be an great action of Batman fighting against Bane physically & mentally and who knows that Nolan's version of "Bane" will be better than "Joker"? :rotfl

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I knew it ! right after TDK I said that Bane would be the next villan.
WOOOT ! KNIGHTFALL WOOOT my favorite comic book series.
I wonder if he will brake batman's back.

this is going to be one hell of a movie.
so pumped for this.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

From a comment on an article I read on the internets:

In Batman: Dark Victory (which follows The Long Halloween, from which The Dark Knight took several cues) Selina Kyle is revealed to likely be the illegitimate daughter of Carmine Falcone. Dark Victory also opens with Batman brooding about how he failed to prevent Harvey Dent turning into Two Face. Couple that with Bane becoming a member of the League of Assassins and R'as Al Ghul's new right hand man in "Bane of the Demon" (they team up to unleash a plague on Gotham - sound familiar?) and Nolan's decisions begin to make more sense in terms of tying up his supposed trilogy.

Very good points and would be really cool to see the whole trilogy tie up neatly somewhat along those lines

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah the whole "Trust Nolan, In Nolan we Trust" ____ is strange, I agree. I'm sure Christopher Nolan himself would be baffled, maybe even scared by that ____. He seems like a humble guy certainly not "godly".

If he were to ____ up this third film, who cares? Begins and The Dark Knight would still be great and Batman wouldn't be ruined in any way, shape, or form.

I'm a huge fan of Batman, but Nolan? Not so much. To date I've loved Begins, TDK, and I sort of like the Prestige. Insomnia is okay, but other than that, I don't care what he's doing other than Batman. His Batman films are fantastic and he's a good director, but that's where I draw the line. There are other forces at work that make his Batman films great, other than him (cast, crew, cinematography, script writers etc). A new director could come in, make some great Batman films, and I still wouldn't care. As long as I enjoy said Batman film, that's good enough for me.

Batman > Director

I trust Batman.

Oh, and Nolan as a racist? Then explain to me why Loeb was black (when he was white in the comic book) and why we have Morgan Freeman playing Lucius Fox? Or is he just racist against Latinos? Tell me about Ramirez then.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Seriously I think that it's weirder to see people say " ____ Nolan, the casting sucks, he can go to hell! " than the people who say "I have thrust in Nolan because He has already made 2 awesome movies and he say better than anyone who he need for his script!"..

Actually that is a good point - it IS far weirder to hear the criticism of the castings than the blind faith

I really like the sound of this...
As you suggest it could tie up the three films quite nicely.

Since 2 female leads were being cast I can imagine that possibly Talia will be in the film and inheret her fathers place as head of the LOS, with Bane in her employ perhaps.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well, one extreme to another.

There are those that immediately think that this will be a fantastic masterpiece going on two casting/character choices (the "In Nolan I trust" crowd).

Then there are those that are already judging it and saying it's crap because those were either not the characters they had in mind or they're not happy with the actors portraying them. Hmm, sounds familiar to the criticism I witnessed in 2007 with Heath Ledger.

Anyway, both sides are unrealistic and ridiculous. But then, there wouldn't be a discussion if they both kept their mouths shut so I digress.

I'm not on either camp. I'm excited because it's Batman on the big screen again. Not who's playing who, who's directing what, not even if it'll be good or terrible. I hope it's great but seeing as it 1.) hasn't been filmed yet and 2.) have a year and a half to see it, who am I to say.

Regardless, I'm excited. The time is going to fly by so fast we won't even know what hit us. We'll be looking back at this one, just like with The Dark Knight before we know it.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

If it's better than Return of the Jedi, perhaps.

But Lord of the Rings? No ____ing way. I'm a huge Batman fan and I think Batman > Lord of the Rings, but those films are pretty epic and have tons of oscar awards (not that I believe winning oscars means you have a great film).

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Lord of the Rings better than Star Wars trilogy? Give me some of what you're smoking, please :D

Lord of the Rings was great, but damn. Star Wars was a revolution in movies, and has far less filler than LOTR. Crap on Jedi if you want, as a trilogy that's something that ain't gonna get beat anytime soon if ever IMO. I think the Nolan love-fest train is going a bit off the tracks when folks start saying things like that. Or start trying to suggest that he's a director on par with the Coens or Spielberg. Let's be realistic here.

True, true. And Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back certainly make up for Jedi's weaknesses.

The Original Star Wars Trilogy....hmm.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, to avoid confusion, I'm not referring to the prequel trilogy :rotfl

And obviously, this is all extremely subjective. The LOTR and Nolan Bat-films are all easily some of my favorite movies of the last decade or so.
