The more I think about it (really can't stop thinking about it yet) and the more we discuss this movie here the more I wanna see it again... maybe I better go again tomorrow! :panic:

The movie ____ing ROCKED! 10/10

Regarding the ending, i honestly feel Nolan wanted to kill the character off but DC/Warner wouldn't have it so what we got is a compromise, and very much can be viewed either way. Gordon could have rebuilt the BS as a homage and Alfred could have been dreaming OR you can have the happy ending.

Just got back from seeing it! Unbelievable. I'm speechless. This movie was everything I had hoped for and then some. What a perfect way to end the trilogy. I need time to digest what I saw but man, how can anyone top this???

still does not explain the auto pilot being FIXED

i thought bruce fixed it because he didnt want to die. Bruce led to this when he said Batmans a symbol, anyone can be behind the mask to Robin. He wanted to do what Alfred said; Nod and know he is happy and settled. He found a reason to carry on after finding out rachel chose Dent.

That could be a red herring. The blast radius of the bomb was huge (atomic), when did Bats ditch? Why wasn't it shown? My initial gut reaction was, "Nolan killed Batman"..I even said it aloud. I didn't feel as much passion in the happy ending but again it can go either way.

yeah thats what i was getting at. I don't know why people are interpreting this movie as a tragic ending. THERES NOTHING TO INTERPRET!! HE LIVES PEOPLE!!!

They also didn't show alot of other things on screen. How did batman get back into gotham with the army guarding the bridges/borders? Batman is really resourceful, he could've gotten off the bat way before it even took off.. he is a ninja afterall.

You guys following the muderer? He booby trapped his flat, explosives and chemicals with wires in. Dude was a headcase. Any confirmation it was a medical student

True. I dunno, i just feel the buildup to the explosion,(Batman LOOKED like he was accepting death..he is giving "everything") everybody's emotions watching that, and Alfred's grave speech, (why would Bruce let Alfred think he was dead?) feeel like the ending Nolan probably wanted but couldn't have. The happy ending feels obligated.

No that piece of ____ doesn't deserve our attention. The victims on the other hand do. Honestly i would rather talk Batman though.

y'know what i've always enjoyed about the Nolan movies (apart from the obvious things of course) i always liked the way the film starts with an interesting, distorted image with no words and then the title at the end.

But the more i thought about it i started to look at it as though that wasn't really the title for the movie but the place that the character is at the end if the movie, at the end of Batman Begins he has begun his mission to bring down the escaped convicts, at the end of The Dark Knight he had become just that (plus it could allude to that very 'night' itself) and now The Dark Knight Rises.

I can't help but think the title refers to JGL's character, yeah i know he's Robin, it was said outright, and that it was implied he would be the new hero, but his arc throughout the entire movie leading up to him 'rising' on the platform at the end says to me that HE was the dark knight rising

Did anyone else feel that?

His name is Robin, he won't become "Robin". He'll be the new Bats. But I think it's a double meaning. Bruce's Bats rose... hell, twice if you want to count post-exile and post-prison. But Blake -> Batman fits as well.

This is my take. He fixed the auto pilot and escapes. simple. What i was curious about was, when Fox discovers that the auto pilot was fixed, dont they show the Bat? Shouldnt it have been destroyed in the blast? Opinions?

I assume there was more than one... since another one "came in black". I was more wondering when and where Bruce escaped. They show him in the Bat over the ocean, and I guess we're free to assume there's some sort of escape jet pod thing.

Interesting to see everyones thoughts. I love that Catwoman made a big impression. She seems to be the only constant and definitley my fav character in the whole flick. Gotta see it again at least one more time before I can fully critique it. But still disapointed in Bane and right now still feeling that the movie fell short of the hype. I mean they really put the trailers together well. They had me sold that this could be on par or better then TDK. But maybe the second time around will win me over. Still fell like they took the mature take on the story away at certain times with cornyness and silly humor.

Guys he didn't die! There isn't much to make you think otherwise. And I'm POSITIVE that thing had an eject button

Yeah, bruce wouldve practiced on the silver bat so he could fix the Black Bat. He had time to spare so he worked on it, as Fox was too busy trying to save the company from going under

I think he ejected when he blew up the building to fly pass it near the bridge. Seems like the most obvious spot make his escape. Ya, I know it shows scene of Batman in the cockpit and all after that but this is Christopher Nolan, master of non linear story telling.

Probably not happening but I do see there being an opening for a fourth movie with "Robin" as Nightwing and Wayne staying Bats. As someone said before, I find it hard to believe that he was ready for retirement. Especially if he has a helping hand
