You know...
he could have just dropped the device into the ocean and high tailed it out of there.
;)

This movie really felt like it could have been 3 hours long. Maybe a bit over that. There are scenes and shots that could use more breathing room. Some story points could have been expanded on.

I think he ejected when he blew up the building to fly pass it near the bridge. Seems like the most obvious spot make his escape. Ya, I know it shows scene of Batman in the cockpit and all after that but this is Christopher Nolan, master of non linear story telling.

This also where i thought he made the escape, a big explosion is a big distraction

As for the shot Bats in the cockpit 'whilst' still flying, well, it was just a shot of him in a cockpit, nothing to suggest he hadn't already landed and was just making sure that the Bat on autopilot was doing it's thing okay

My GF asked how he was able survive being stabbed in the side so easily, i had only one answer, but i'm sure you all know what that was...

Another reason for my thinking he is, possibly, dead is Alfred. He nods and leaves, just as in his fantasies. Wayne admitted you don't know what you have until you lose it, regarding Alfred, and I doubt the pair could stay out of each other's lives like that.

Then again, they were apart for years before.

I was just throwing it out there as a possible alternative ending. As everyone said it felt like the nod would have been enough and the rest unneccessary. I doubt we'll find out if that was a Nolan decision or a studio one.

As to Bane being dead? I didn't think that. I just think he's been knocked out but not dead. Maybe I missed something.

For me it's the best of the trilogy. With TDK last.

About Bane:
Selina shot him with one of the freaking Batpod cannons. Of coarse he's dead!

Don't know why everyone is having a hard time with the ending...

This isn't Inception. Bruce Wayne is alive, and gave Alfred what he wanted - seeing him happy and living his life. Batman is dead, hence the statue of him. Dying to save the city restored faith and hope in the people of Gotham.

Eurgh, enough with the friggin inception conspiracy theories. Its a different film by the same creator. Not the same film.

They set it up for the past two films. Bruce wanted out. He thought Harvey was the key for him and rachel. Rachel died, dent became two face. The only way Gotham wouldnt need Batman was for Dents action to stand, become the Dent act and Batman to become a criminal.

Bruce couldnt move on from Rachel believing she was waiting for Bruce when the truth is she chose Harvey because Bruce will always need Batman.

Alfred always dreamt when Bruce left the first time, he would see him across the table, with a family living the life he always wanted Bruce to have, because in Gotham City he would never have that. He would never escape his surname, he would never escape the fact his parents were murdered. Every corner he turned his parents ghosts would be with him in his mind.

Away from gotham, Bruce can move on, live the life his family wouldve wanted, the life Alfred wanted.

When Alfred said in BB that they left him in charge of the thing that his parents thought most precious, it wasnt the Mansion. it was Bruce. Can nobody not see that? 'Know your limits', 'thought you was helping people not damn good television', 'youve got a name to uphold', then alfreds speech about saving bruce the pain of knowing that his escape route from Batman was just Bruces fantasy, sparing him the pain of knowing that he wouldnt have a route out, and the only way is what Bruce ended up wanting; to die the hero after becoming the villain.

Bruce realised this, Bruce realised that saving Gotham, rising up batman as the legend, Bane gave the city to the people, and the good people took it back. No corruption anymore, the mob is non existent almost. Gotham doesn need BRUCE as Batman anymore. Selina wanted a way out, she wanted to change. The two connected, the two fought along side and Selina became bruces' escape, Bruce became Seleina's escape.

Bruce remembered exactly what Alfred said; he thought Bruce was dead. He thought he failed Thomas and Martha. Instead, he succeeded; Bruces message to Alfred was exactly what Alfred wanted it to be, It was a message to Alfred that he is moving on now, he is ok, he has Selina and one day a family.

Its not a dream, its not Inception. Its a happy ending, which is rare for Batman after you look in the comics at Silver st Cloud for example. But this film is an End. This is an end that I have wanted for Bruce Wayne since reading comics, but comics would never end. They will always continue to punish Bruce Wayne as batman until he dies. Which is why the ending for me is the most powerful it could be; Because Bruce is happy. Nobody ever has Bruce happy, Nobody has bruce fought his demons. This has. Everytime he starts happiness it comes crashing down but finally.... Bruce can have a happy life. I think some cant accept that of Batman and expects the story to just have him go on and on and on. Idve loved another film or so, but the ending was perfect for me because thats what it was, an ending. Batman doesnt have endings.

Regardless, the ending can be interpretated many ways. That is simply one of them. There is a happy ending, and a sad ending but at least there is an ending to one particular story.

And with Bane

 I thought the shotgun misfired back at him. I missed her shooting him with the batpod. Will need to watch that scene again

nothing like coming out of an amazing end to a trilogy and having the opportunity to check out the screen used costumes in the lobby...

Yupp that is my only big issue with the film

I think Batman had autopilot on the bat.

When the mushroom nuclear bomb went off, I screamed unexpectedly "BATMAN CAN'T DIE, HE'S BATMAN" :rotfl:rotfl

Anyone else think

That far too many people knew he was batman by the end of this? No point wearing the suit if he comes back for another.

I would hope that Gordon truly believes that Wayne is dead and that Blake would take up the mantle. "...as a symbol, I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting."

i got a question
So alfred knew that Bruce is still alive? Except Lt.Gordon? coz it's odd to see alfred crying on the tomb of bruce when he know that's he's still alive. And who gave the address of the Batcave to blake?

Dude... The funeral was BEFORE he saw bruce in the Marissas. Hence why his funeral was shown before seeing Bruce. The last shot is of Alfred and Bruce nodding to each other

Bruce gave the co-ordinates. If you remember, they were all beneficeries of Bruce's will and testament. Hence why Lucious, Blake and Alfred got everything, along with keeping his promise to Blake that he would see why Wayne foundation stopped stopped funding orphans so he gave wayne manor as the orphanage.

Its all explained in the ending :wink1:
