Re: The Dark Knight Rises

That's fake. It's got to be.

The hole in the wall stood out immediately from when the inmates are released in Batman Begins.

Hans Zimmer Promises 'Epic, Iconic' Score For 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Posted 1 hr ago by Kara Warner in DC Comics, News

The Dark Knight RisesNot everyone around Splash Page HQ is as obsessed with film and television composers as I am, but even if you only half-listen to the music in movies — particularly music in movies over the past few years — Hans Zimmer has made an impact on your filmgoing life.

Not only is the man responsible for the music of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" a brilliant composer, he's absolutely delightful in person, too — even when MTV News is constantly harassing him for "The Dark Knight Rises" scoops. And that's exactly what I did last night when I caught up with Zimmer at the premiere of yet another film he scored, the animated adventure "Rango."

Asked how many notes of "The Dark Knight Rises" score he has down now, Zimmer laughed, "Ugh. No, no, no, no." [Translation: I don't want to talk about that!]

Pressing on, I threw out a couple of specific notes to see if he'd confirm or deny something he's already written into the score. Might there be an F sharp in there? D Minor?

"There's definitely a D minor in it," Zimmer responded, warming up. "Absolutely. We've got some D minor going on. No, we are thinking hard about that one right now. That's going to be extraordinary."

Asked if he plans on writing a pronounced theme into the score or inserting something more subtle or tricky (a la his sneaky use of Edith Piaf's “Non, je ne regrette rien” in "Inception"), Zimmer said, "Don't quite know yet."

"No, I'm not going to say," he said. "The one thing I can tell you is that it's going to be a lot more epic. Extraordinarily epic."

But what does that mean, Hans?!?

"I don't know, it's like, 'What's epic these days?' I think there's something in the core of the story that allows you to get the music much bigger and much more sort of, iconic," he ventured.

Very interesting... "something in the core of the story" that will allow for "bigger, iconic" sounds?!? Sounds good to me. Does this mean there will be more pieces in the orchestra?

"I'm not going to tell you!" Zimmer said. "You've got more out of me than anybody has so far," he said with a smile.

And with that, let the speculation continue!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I honestly didn't think the Begins score could be topped, but dammit TDK score was amazing. Can't wait for TDKR. :rock

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Pittsburgh could be really cool...I like how he seems to be expanding parts of gotham to be one big giant breathing city.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Pittsburgh is pretty condensed right? That would be a nice contrast from the big city of TDK and the narrows in BB.

Yeah, this is the feeling I'm getting too. Chicago is like the main part of the Gotham City, the heart if you will. The Narrows, obviously a big film lot which is the grittier part of Gotham. While New York, Pittsburgh and LA make up the rest of the city (as different parts of course).

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The location shooting looked much better on film than the closed sets such as "the Narrows".

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

^ no way....The Narrows had this really cool Blade Runner style to it. Which was lost in TDK. Which is one reason why Begins was better.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Interestingly enough Bane showed up in Young Justice and he wasn't that big. Even after the Venom spike, he wasn't massive or oversized. I have a feeling you'll see smaller Banes show up in preparation for Hardy's portrayal.

From Collider.com

We reported in the past weeks that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were in talks to join The Dark Knight Rises. Warner Bros. has now sent out a press release announcing that both have joined the film and that Cotillard will play Talia al Ghul while Gordon-Levitt will play the gangster Roman Sionis (aka Black Mask). That puts four potential villains against Batman with Anne Hathaway cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane. Of course, we don’t know how all of these villains will interact with each other and how much bearing they’ll have on the story, but I have to assume that you don’t get popular actors this caliber for bit parts.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been cast in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and will join an ensemble cast alongside Christian Bale who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. They will play Talia al Ghul and Roman Sionis respectively.

On casting Cotillard, Director Christopher Nolan stated, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Marion again and have no doubt she will be a great addition to our ensemble cast and bring to life a key part of the universe we have created as we finish our story.”

On the addition of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Nolan said, “I am thrilled to be working with Joseph again after a delightful experience working with him on Inception and am certain he will deliver another thrilling performance as one of Batman’s most popular villains.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
